  1. Sorry Polecat, certifications don't impress me. Been around computers since punch cards and Fortran. My history is in IT, LAN Admin, and programming.
  2. I noticed Polecat that there is onboard sound available on a few of your systems. Would be interesting to hear if trying onboard, as in losing the Audigy card, fixes your problem.
  3. Ookay, for argument I just installed it on my main system, nothing special either, just runs every game I have great and without issue. Windows XP Pro Sp2 all updates Asus A7N8X-Delux AMD Barton 2500 overclocked to 2800 ATI X800 Pro 256 (Catylist 5.8 drivers) 2 X 512 Kingston PC 3200 ram 1 X Western Digital 80 gig HD 1 X Western Digital 200 gig HD Onboard Soundsorm, (stock ASUS drivers) Logitech MOMO Racing Wheel (Wingman 4.6 drivers) No issues at all with install, played a few rounds, no issues, runs even better. And I just installed the Cat 5.8 drivers prior to this test install. Now I am curious if those of you with issues are all using nvidia cards? One constant in Polecat's systems is they all have nvidia cards. Hoggy
  4. This is the second game I have heard the exact same thing happening. It was as a fps and on inital install, all kinds of grief. The individual did an uninstall, defrag, regclean, a reinstall and all is well. Hoggy
  5. Is that Corsair ram you running low latency. The reason I ask is that a friend was having a similar issue in another game and found that he had to reduce the memory timings by running MemTest86. I know Corsair makes good ram but I regret that I know of at least three individuals who either received a bad stick or had timing issues. Not saying this is the issue, but worth taking a look at. Are you runing FF with your joystick, if so try turning that off. And from what I understand you'll lose your centering force but at least you'll know. I have 3 joysticks, 3 wheels, and two gamepads, all Logitech. Also, the above mentioned individual uses a SB Audigy 2 ZS and with SP2 found he needed to go back one version of the SB drivers. Once again, just worth looking in to but being a pain to try, only as a last resort. Do you defrag on a regular basis and do you have a program to check for registry issues. I run Norton WinDoctor about once a month or after I do a number of uninstalls in a brief period of time. Hopefully we can resolve this but via a forum is a bit of a slow process. Hoggy
  6. Hi Tarball, Maybe you should tell us about your system: Operating System Hardware Drivers and version numbers for your hardware And your level of computer literacy. And maybe this fine community can find a solution for you to get the game running. I have T72 running on the following: Windows XP Pro Sp2 and all other updates Asus A7N8X-X AMD Barton 2400 overclocked to 2700 Sapphire 9500 Pro modded to 9700 pro (Catylist 5.7 drivers) 2 X 512 Kingmax PC 2700 ram 1 X Western Digital 80 gig HD 1 X Maxtor 80 gig HD SBLive sound card, (stock Window's SB drivers) Logitech Wingman Extreme joystick (Wingman 4.6 drivers) Nothing special there as you can see but yet the game runs fine. The above is not even my main gaming rig as I race a lot and have a wheel setup and don't like swapping controllers. Helping each other out is what a community is all about. Hoggy
  7. I use WinRar for everything but recall that you should be able to right click on the zip file and choose extract here, as I do with WinRar. Haven't used Winzip in ages so hope this helps. Hoggy
  8. Would some moderator please close this thread as it has not only gotten way off topic, but to the point of ridiculous. Hoggy
  9. I have played every tank sim out there that has ever been released and not a one didn't have some kind of bugs. If you have nothing positive to contribute here, go whine elsewhere. CounterStrike, released with bugs Pariah, released with bugs BF2, released with bugs, first patch even had bugs. Swat4, released with bugs and so on, and so on, and so on, deal with it. With so many different Motherbaords, CPU's, video cards, memory modules, soundcards, etc. It is only common sense they cannot verify for each and every variation. Hoggy
  10. I have this game installed on: WinXP Pro, SP2 all updated ASUS A7N8X-X Athlon 2400(running FSB at 333)so 2700mhz equiv Sapphire 9500 Pro 128 I gig KingMax PC 2700 ram As you can see nothing special here and I can run both this game and Battlefield 2 and in both cases, with frame rates in excess of 50 fps. I am running at 1024 X 768 and everything is cranked. I play a number of different games and as the Moderator has stated, seen the same complaints about pretty near every game I play that has a forum. I have two systems, this one, the slower of the two I use for FPS style games while my other is for racing. I do regular maintenance on both machines to keep them running as they should. For instance, I use Norton Utillities. And for the record, on a fesh WindowsXP install after updating to SP2 and all updates. I run Norton WinDoctor and it will find 200+ problems as in broken shortcuts, extra files, redundant files, duplicate dlls, bs ActiveX components and so on. I use DiskKeeper to defrag 280 gig every day and it takes less than 3 minutes. You can have the fastest system in the world and if you don't know how to optimize, tune, or properly maintain it, need I say no more. Sorry, I just got the game yesterday and agree about a few criticisms here about the menu system and control. But beyond that, the game plays great and I am having fun. Can hardly wait for them to patch it so it can be played via the Internet. So for now, though still early for me, I'll rate it a "B-". It appears to me that representatives are here, reading, and interacting with those of us who have purchased the game. Man, that is a good thing and should be appreciated and hopefully, together, will make this even a better game. You realy want something to gripe about, go buy FlatOut, then visit their forums. Then maybe you'll understand my appreciation of what I see going on here. Hoggy
