  2. With the Brits doing things like grabbing Norway while France is being conquered or sneaking into North Africa shortly afterwards and leaving a large part of their navy or even army in Egypt in anticipation of a German attack there is there anything the Germans can do to see if an early Sealion is viable? Would building a bomber early on to scout England and Egypt be feasible? Can the Germans go for England without going to Africa first if England is underdefended? Just how weak must England be if the Brits are playing these games for a successful Sealion? Alternatively, is there a way for the Brits to con the Germans into thinking England is undefended and inducing an unsuccessful Sealion? 3. Please correct my line of thought here.(1)Spain over 40% Axis ensures Romanian conversion for Axis.(2)If Spain goes to Axis Germans get a huge minor army with a commander. It also makes getting Gibraltor much easier. (3)How can there be anything worse for the Allies than a bloodless conversion of Spain for the Axis, therefore they must spend mpps for diplomacy to counter Axis in Spain? (4) If Allies spend mpps in Spain Axis still gets Romania. Is it really worth Germany spending time and manpower to conquer Spain?
  4. I have been unable to find a discussion of the mechanics of Sealion by searching the forum. I have a few questions. (1) If the Allied player has left the majority of his units in Egypt is it possible to do a snap Sealion after France is conquered? Or must Egypt be attacked first? (2) Are certain tech advances necessary before Sealion? (3) Is a first invasion turn capture of London essential for a successful invasion? If so, how is this accomplished? (4) Does the Axis player need the Bismarck and Tirpitz in his invasion fleet for sea cover before launching the attack? And should the Axis player expect the annihilation of his navy even in a successful Sealion? (5) How does the new patch complicate the invasion of and defense of England(air spotting, transport damage, cheaper paratroopers, etc.)?
  5. Figuring out the combat effects of strategic bombing is puzzling me. (1)Is the bomber defense and bomber defense bonus added together to detemine the BD of a resource or does the BDB only apply to a unit on the resource? (2) The strategic attack value of bombers(4)is quite a bit higher than the BD of most resources. Is this an inherent advantage for strategic attack? (3) What value of the bomber is being compared against the BD to determine its' expected losses? (4)Do increases in heavy bomber research and anti-aircraft research cancel each other out? If this is so, doesn't the fact that the defender must apply this AA level to each potential target while the attack must only apply bomber research to his few bombers make this more cost effective for the bombers? (5)Since bombers can receive readiness and morale boosts when commanded by headquarters and resources do not doesn't this give an edge to strategic attack? (6) If an air fleet on escort cannot reach the target its bomber is attacking but is within range of an intercepting air fleet will it still attack the intercepting air fleet? (7)If an intercepting air fleet is attacked by an excorting air fleet does it still get a shot at the bomber?
  6. As an Axis player I have been plagued by the French fleet. They have fouled up amphibious invasions of Norway, blasted their way through the Copenhagen port and played havoc with the KreigsMarine, made movement near the French coast suicidal, they have tormented the RegiaNavia, and harassed my submarines. They don't care about losses since they will disappear anyway. How do you neutralize these guys?
  7. Can the Axis hang on and win a war without actually knocking out Great Britain or Russia? In other words, could a brilliant defensive strategist hold on to either Paris or Moscow and eke out a Minor Victory or at least hold the Allies to a stalemate or does the disparity in MPPs inevitably doom the Axis?
  8. I am currently playing a game in which my fighter aircraft are attacking a bomber entrenched in Malta. I have reduced the entrenchment to level one but the next turn it is back to level four. This has happened two or three times in a row. What is going on?
  9. If the Germans delay their attack in the West until spring 1940 would it be possible for the Allies to launch our old friend from SC1, The Dutch Gambit, and stall the Germans on the wrong side of the Rhine?
  10. While this may be difficult to quantify, I am wondering to what degree elite commanders act as a greater "force multiplier" than their less skilled brother officers. For example:(1) Is it more valuable to save Gen. O'Connor in Egypt or reconstitute him from the dead pool if he is killed there (at a cheaper cost) or should the Brits "go to war" with Monty even if it means delaying other purchases or offensive actions? (2) Along these lines, are the elite commanders(Manstein, Zhukov etc.) so valuable that their purchase takes precedence over military units even if it delays offensive action? (3) Since the identity of commanders is usually hidden from opponents is there some way to tell when the opposing commander is much better than yours (all other things being equal)and if so should you operate your own elite commander to this sector to fight his? (4) Finally, since the Italians have no elite commanders does this make building army groups around them not a cost effective idea? 11. I have some questions about research. (1) Is industrial research(Production,Industrial technology,Intelligence,Infrastructure)more valuable over the long run than combat research?(2)Is there one research that is so powerful everyone must have it(like air combat research in SC1)?(3) Since U.S. and U.S.S.R. enter later in the game should their research and builds concentrate on units that take longer to build?(4)Should research dollars be spread out on many technologies or concentrated on a few?(5)Should you spend all your money and max out on research as quickly as possible or space it between unit purchases?(6)Could research actually be a war winner or is it just a minor addition to an overall strategy?
  12. I am curious. Would it be possible to mod the Fall Weiss scenario to create Great Britain, Canada and Egypt as a single major power country (United Kingdom Commonwealth). If London falls during Sealion the capital reverts to Ottawa (a la Moscow to Stalingrad). The Allied player can then save the English fleet, operate surviving air units to Canada and transport surviving land units to Canada. He can continue to use the Canadian resources. Is this feasible?
  13. After I hit the button to end the turn a dialog box appears which requires that I name the file. There is a large "Save" button I must push to get out of the box. I do that.
  14. Thank you for your response Mr. Cater. I am sorry to be so stupid but I still seem to be doing something wrong. I started a multiplayer game. I hit the end turn button. A dialog box appears which states that an e-mail directory has been created after I named the turn. If I go to Outlook Express there is indeed a Multiplayer folder with the turn listed in it. But when I open Windows Explorer there is no Multiplayer folder listed and no place for me to save my opponents response. What am I doing wrong?
  15. Using Windows Explorer I open the SC2 folder. There is no file that says "Multiplayer". My friend with whom I am playing also has no file that says "Multiplayer". As a precaution, I reinstalled the game. Still no file saying "Multiplayer".
  16. Thank you for your prompt answer. My problem is I can't find the multiplayer subdirectory or PBEM folder. Can someone give me precise directions on how to proceed on this rabbit hunt?
  17. I am playing my first PBEM game. I cannot find folders or files in the SC2 directory to save my moves to. The manual is not helping me. Any information on this would be appreciated. Thank you.
