  1. Bogged message doesnt mean only immobilization because soft ground or similar.

This is an standard message and includes immobilizations because technical problems or engine failures.

The WWII tanks reliability wasnt very good. For example, in CM, sometimes, one of your halftracks ends bogged in open and dry ground. One explanation is, a failure in transmission (tracks axis or engine or gear, etc).

Well, at least, this is what i think. (I read about this a lot of time ago, but i cannot remember where).

  2. If you have a laptop with ATI graphic card, now you can update (february 2005) the graphic drivers through a mod.

You will find all the details here:

    http://www.driverheaven.net/patje/

And remember, you need to download the ATI original drivers too. The mod let to you to update your laptop. (Without the mod you cannot because in laptops, your drivers usually are suministrated by the laptop manufacturers)

P.D. No fog through the update, dont ask me about that.

  4. Well, the soviet tactic assumed a lot of losses with each operation. Soviet Army was a big Army in number of units. However, its theorical and practical formation was poor.

The main resource in URSS was the human.

The Allies or Axis armies, with less human resources and better military academies and schools, were more interested in tactical and strategical knowledges.

For example. In 1942, the most of soviet tanks crews, hadnt driven any other vehicle before their T34. They were farmers without mechanical knowledges. In USA or West Europe cars or bikes were usuals in 1920,s or 1930,s.

Thats the reason beacause the soviet tanks didnt look for better aproximation ways or flank movements.

Further, the tactical control in battle for soviets officers was precary, because only one of each 3 or 5 tanks had radio. And its wellknown than the russian tanks turret until 1943 were only for 2 crewmembers, gunner and commander. The commander had to assign targets and get ammo constantly and this circumstance avoid a useful tactical control for platoons or companies chiefs. German tanks turrets were designed for 3 crewmembers, allowing the commander to control his plt. or co. (Coordinating the action of all the vehicles simultaneously).

In mid 1942 the biggest armor soviet unit was the brigade. Commonly, officers werent able to manage bigger units because their poor strategical ability.

At the end of WWII, the German desesperated situation and the soviet experience balanced the tactical formation for both sides. But then, German Army was defending the motherland, and soviets had to accept strong losses because Stalin wanted to reach Berlin before Allies did it.

The Stavka wasnt worried about human losses. Germany, Italy, USA, UK, France... tried to minimize these losses because their less human resources and political consequences in Home. Mainly in democratic political systems.

Or maybe not, its only my opinion. Willy.

  5. You are right, I would like to extent my congratulations to the whole modders. BFC did a great product, over all because the development team understood quickly that a moddable game is ever better. Many of us spend as much time with mods (bmp,s or wav,s) as playing.

Go on mate, I will check cmmods.com seeking your future works (interface for CMX2?).

    Willy.

  6. Thanks, your impressive mod changing the menus and general appearance in game was a nice surprise for me.

Moreover, I have downloaded your past mods for CMBB and CMBO (steel aspect).

I supose you have been working in it a lot, spending a lot of free time in this job.

Thank you very much, and you are right, waiting for CMX2 will be easier playing CM games through your wonderful interface.

    Willy

  7. I want to say you thank you very much, DEY. I have been downloading your winter mods for a long time and I am witness of your improving technique and results.

Nowadays, your whitewashed mods are pretty and realistics. I like very much your latest halftracks, T26 flammethrower and BT2.

I know sometimes this is the only reward for a modder, and I want you know I appreciate your work. Please, go on.

    Wilhelm.

  8. Guys, I have an ATI 9600 128Mb with Catalyst 4.12 drivers and I dont feel these kind of problems.

Im thinking the problem isnt the graphic card because this graphical problem isnt universal. I want to say that if this question was dued to the graphic device or latest drivers all users would suffer the same results, but it isnt.

If you have installed the catalyst command center, you can work about all configuration parameters through it. However, you can change configuration too through the advanced properties of control panel in OS windows. Ocasionally, this two ways to set up parameters are contradictories. For example, to play Operation Flash Point I disable (or get down) AF in catalyst command center but when I check the advanced properties of graphic card in control panel, AF is still on. Sometimes, it occurs the same with other parameters like the balance between performance and quality. Check the OS parameters, not only the catalyst command center. I usually, set my parameters in catalyst command center as first step. Secondly, I check my graphic card configuration through the control panel in OS windows XP. I modify it when necessary. No problems here.
