I miss a lot the map autogeneration in QMB of this CM2. I loved that characteristic in CM1.
I supose CMBN won't have this feature in the future either...

It's working perfectly here. I downloaded it and unzipped it with Winzip (last version, 15.0). No corrupt, no problems and all is fine in game.
Well, fine is not correct. The new terrain is awesome.

Well, returning to more funny/productive things/thread...

Yes, Aris is a fantastic guy. Improving our games for free.
Thank you. Very much.

Hmmm nope. Your problem (which was hard to tell from your OP) is definitely caused by something else - anti virus maybe?. Why on earth would any coder design an engine to render shadows using CPU's and not GPUs?
This problem hasn't just been reported by me, but other uses in the tech support forums (also with GTX 580's).
The game isn't optimized to render shadows, terrain, etc very well and in my case and the case of others it's purely GPU related. It was the case in CMSF as well, but it's exasperated now in Normandy with all the forests and more units.
Here are my processors while playing "School of Hard Knocks" - which is a Btln sized engagement. Barely breaking a sweat (and I run VM servers in the background).
With all due respect, I am not "100% wrong". Maybe you need to look elsewhere than the game to figure out what your issue is.
Well, I disagree. I have in my secondary screen GPU, CPU, VRAM and RAM use (through AIDA64), and when I play CMBN one of my cores is at 100% and my GPU (one of them) is at 25-30% maximum.
Moreover, I have tested at different resolutions: from the lowest to 2560*1600 (30" LG). I have tested with the highest possible AA filter through NV CP. I have tested in game enabling or not shadows... And the result is that my FPS don't change and GPU load either. It's not a GPU related problem. It's CPU. I don't have any problem with antivirus nor in whatever other game either.
You cannot check CPU load (your pic) alt-tabbing from the game, because when you do that, CPU load disappears (I have tested 2 min ago). You need a secondary screen or keyboard with screen (G15 or G19 with pluggins, for example) to check the load in game. If you return to desktop to measure it, you don't get the figure, you get 0% of use.
Mate, on my opinion and with due respect, you are wrong.

Fuser, that bridge texture is awesome. I love your work.
Thanks again.

Mods used ingame to get this aspect:
1.- ARIS terrain mod.
2.- Veins German uniforms.
3.- EZ US American uniforms.
4.- Veins Skies.
I use other MOD,s as Veins flames and smoke, muzzleflash, sounds, etc.

According to your commentaries, I post here several shots from this evening, assaulting a hill in the tutorial campaign. All screenshots are without edition at all, I only cropped them to avoid GUI or to focus the action.
-
I think that's well beyond the realms of a simple mod, I would love to see the brightness increased a bit though, would make an awesome addition to, say, a module ...
Mate, I'm using a program to get different bright and contrast values ingame (later, I touch up images through Photoshop).
This little program is called Gapa-Gamma and is working with CMBN. I posted about it here (for IL-2, other game):
http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,3324.0.html
Whoever can choose new settings to test.
Try it. It's free.

I have the same rig as him. The screenshots are most definitely touched up.
I also get the lacklusture game performance from CMBN given the power of my rig. It's almost 100% video card related as turning shadows off boosts fps by at least double, and the performance changes when you zoom in and out. Thus it is not CPU or RAM related.
In short, there are lots of objects being drawn and I don't think the engine is well optimised in this regard.
Sorry but you are plain wrong. Firstly check the CPU and GPU use (as I do) and later you will understnad that GPU is working at 25-30% only. CPU (one core) is working continuosly at 100%. This is the limit.
I guess that coder set up excessive things for CPU. For example, you can design a engine to render shadows by CPU (not GPU).
Check it, mate. I did.
@everybody: Yes, screenshots are filtered through Photoshop. Only light, contrast and colour saturation.

More infantry shots:
I love detail in this title. From tutorial campaign. Land textures from Aris terrain mod.

Geronimoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! Yiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiihaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!
(Yes, this one is photoshoped, lol)

The images are filtered, BUT not heavily photoshoped. For example:
- Filtered (contrast, light, etc):
- Original (not edited at all):
My settings are ingame: all maxed. I don't use Nvidia CP for this game (profile).

I'm enjoying this "new" (for me) game:
My main problem is the peformance. I have got a super PC. This game is using only 25% from one of my two GTX480 (no SLI-compatible I know) and one of my CPU-cores (which one is ever at 100% of load).
Whatever game in market runs better than this (at maximum settings). You should to gain advantage from 4 or more cores modern CPU,s mates... Any patch in the future to get this?

Could you tell me which is the meaning of VNC?Originally posted by Redwolf:However, if you use VNC it works and you have it in a window. Of course that means you need to have an actual Windows box somewhere in your datacenter.
Thanks again.

Do anyone of you know any option to play CM,s (CMBO, CMBB and CMAK) in windowed mode in Windows XP?
I need to change from the fullscreen to window mode, but all I have tried didn't work.
Thanks in advance.

I agree. Absolutely. This game is poor. POOR. I brought the entire CM series (CMBO, CMBB and CMAK), and on my opinion they are the best tactical games I have ever had, but I won't buy any other CMx2 series game if BF doesn't change radically this situation.Originally posted by sandy:This review is spot on.
I am an old time wargamer, long time SERIOUS computer gamer, and fan of CM and battlefront.
I have lost count of the number of people I have introduced to the CM series with forceful advice to play and buy.
But, NO WAY would I recommend CMSF now...
I am not playing it because it doesn't work as
well as the CM1 games and is not as much fun.
To sum up "There are too many design flaws (like no QBs with force picks, or proper WEGO) in this beta release"
NB Proper WEGO needs either a pause and replay in real-time and customisable variable time increments for turn based.
Sadly it CMSF now a very unpolished and premature release - whatever happened to "It's done when it's done"?
However I am happy to have given BF my money for a game I do not play, if it means a WW2 version will get it right - and yes, that means getting right what was already right in CM1, before going off on tangents for extra eye candy and real-time twitch-gamer commercialism.
But if BF want to sell me a yet another real-time WW2 game, I will not be buying - there are plenty of those that I have never bought already out there.
We need an improved version of the CM we all love, and CMSF is NOT the CM we love...it is very sad to see all the people who express their disappointment condemned. Please try to listen to us.
Regards.

Exactly the same here :eek:Originally posted by Michael Dorosh:The first time I tried the CM:BO demo, I hated it. I went away for several months and then downloaded it again and bought the game the same day. *shrug*

For me, these two aspects are essentials to get a good game with a good future, just like CM series.Originally posted by killmore:Ability to make your own maps or random maps is very important.
Guys, seriously, we need a map editor (and random map generator if is possible). This is the point that will do playable the game for years... CM stays in my HDD for this reason, although its graphics or minor deficiencies.
Congratulations for ToW, I will buy it, you can be sure of that, but I prayer you for a complete editor, in subsequents patches or in whatever other way.

I knew you would do it in the same moment I saw the new MikeyD mod for CMAK.
I love you HB. Are you married?

Redwolf, is possible you know a lot about computers and videocards. However, you dont know anything about cortesy and politeness.
You cant insult and discredit to other forum members like you do it. Its a pitty Moderators dont read your posts more frequently.

With Aris terrain mod v.2 (three packs) and Veins German Uniforms v.1 mod. Thank you guys. Vehicles are from BFC (default ones, I like them a lot).
All images are edited in contrast, bright, light, colour and sharpening. All game settings maxed and shadows on.
