    Why would you question that?

He would have been 18 in 1968, so being a 66 year old 'Nam vet would make perfect sense.

yes, you're right. After High School I joined the army in July of 68 ..18 yrs. old. Yes I said joined ..not so bright I guess but I did it. Got out of the army and home from nam in 71.

    Combatintman,

I was always surprised by the lack of comment on scenarios, also.

I tried to get something going about them in Red Thunder--unsuccessfully.

My approach to the scenarios is to start with the smallest and work up.  With that strategy, I got to Assault, and not even to the end of that scenario, in RT.

My suggestion--made with perhaps annoying persistence--is that they include tiny scenarios, as in 2-3 units on each side, to hook people in.  It could be "StarCraft" style, adding new units with successive scenarios, and with some [fictional--though ideally based on some real incident] story.  That would lead people to scenarios like yours, "pay-off". At least CM1 had "Band of Brothers" and "Combat (the old TV show).  But...I will stop and disappear again.  I don't like being annoying.

What he said. I like your kind of annoying. Small unit action is what I crave. We must be a very small minority.

This appears to be a problem specific to you, because I can't reproduce this and I haven't seen any reports of this yet.

Same thing here, full game, win10. Shaders turned on in options, start a battle ..shaders are off. Turn shaders on with hotkeys, exit out and shut game down. Start game back up and check options, shaders are on. Start battle shaders are off ..have to use hotkeys to turn on. Never noticed this until someone pointed it out. So, yes it's happening.

  4. After thinking about it I have to say this ...Guys like Carlos Hathcock are the exception not the rule. Most of the guys in combat are of the spray and pray crowd. Being able to pick off a Head sticking out of a hatch at will is not that simple. G.I.'s able to do that anytime, all the time are few and far between. I'm pretty sure there needs to be some kind of modifier applied to these gunners. I'm not sure what it is Charles could do to make it seem to be more reasonable, but I trust they will eventually come up with something.

Yup, getting the right balance between crew safety and maintaining vehicle capabilities has been a challenge since CMBO days.  Unfortunately this is one of those behaviors that is extremely sensitive to a variety of specific conditions.  What works great 90% of the time might wind up being very bad for 10%.  Players will focus on the 10% instead of the 90%, which is understandable.  The question is if the 10% is what one would expect in the real world.  The problem is if we try to reduce the 10% we start to negatively affect the 90%.  In this situation, if we had crews be more conservative people would complain less about crews being picked off but more critical that their vehicles didn't do things like maintain the capability to shoot at stuff.

There's no perfect answer to this. However, we are always willing to look at vehicle specific situation where it appears the balance is significantly out of whack.

I agree ..take a long hard look at it, but if it is going to mean that the only way to butter it up is going to turn the vehicle in question into a super human unstoppable killing machine, I would opt to leave it alone for now.

This thread could be filed under 'be careful what you ask for because you may get it'. Like Strykers that don't reload and Stugs that don't fire their mgs.

I've been down that road of 'be careful what you ask for because you may get it' more than once in my life time. It usually turns out that I should have kept my mouth shut!

All in all ...it's just an amazing game. Just my opinion though. Good job guys.

C'mon guys, knock it off. Shake it out. Calm it down.

I can't agree more ....quit busting each others chops.. agree to disagree and let it be. @iluvmy88 don't hate or leave the forum ...you said you were a mechanic for 10 years in the army (think that's what you said). So was I ...only a different era. I was a 63B and a 63C, but that was way back when. Spent 3 yrs. 68 to 71 in the Army. One tour RVN. So stay here please.

@JonS Same with you. You also have contributed much and lots of experience. I enjoy reading everything that all you guys post, I just don't post to much myself.

Bottom line is ..it's a game forum, a game that tries to re-create real life. It's fun. Lets try to keep it that way. I know, boys will be boys, but dust yourselves off, shake hands and let it go. Please.

    Regards,

    Dennis

  7. @semhustej  ...Here is what I would do ...I wouldn't uninstall anything. Lets think simple here. Just download the patch for 1.12 for your operating system (PC or MAC) and install it. After that I would re-install the 3.0 upgrade... it will overwrite any files changed by the 1.12 patch and I think you will be good to go. I could be wrong but I think that will take care of your problem. Hopefully one of these guys maybe even Steve himself will correct me if I'm wrong.
