  3. Anyone have some suggestions (links) for places to find maps (I found some: http://www.onwar.com/maps/wwii/index.htm http://www.777avg.com/maps/ http://dspace.dial.pipex.com/town/avenue/vy75/maps.htm http://www.battlefield.ru/library/battles/mariupol/melitopol.html http://rkkaww2.armchairgeneral.com/maps/maps1943SW.htm#Kursk43 but the scale is usually a bit off, or of areas I'm not interested in).
  4. The photos showing Stu.G.s with skirts are in reported to be taken in Kursk July 43: Hitler's Teutonic Knights: SS Panzers in action, Bruce Quarrie War on the Eastern Front: German Soldier in Russia 1941-1945, James Lucas If this is true, maybe the boys over at BF could correct this on the next patch?? 5. Yeah, I think although the earlier link I gave out is titled "Kursk", some of the photos seem to be at a different date or location (I haven't read where it snowed during the battle of Kursk- warm and humid with scattered showers mainly is what I've been reading). The photos I was refering to were prob. from the book, "The Battle of Kursk, David M. Glantz & Jonathan M. House" showing Stu.G. IIIs with skirts. I give the page # but I returned the book, I should be able to get a specific photo re: today, as I was going thru 4 books on the topic and I'm a bit curious now.
  6. I have found a number of photos of the battle of Kursk (Jul. 43)that display Stu.G. IIIs with skirts. The game does not make them avail. until Aug. 43??? Anyone have better info. on this?
  7. Seeing junk's post reminded me I had bookmarked a site with some interesting photos of Kursk. http://www.aeronautics.ru/archive/wwii/photos/gallery_003/page_01.htm
  8. Have uploaded "Kursk - Psel River Basin" to the Proving Grounds. It's my first try at design, so I am very interested in any feedback the community can give. Thanks in advance. link: http://www.the-proving-grounds.com/scenario_details.html?command=search&db=scenarios.db&eqskudatarq=470
  9. ty FR for the info, took a look and looks like the way to go, thanks.
  10. A week ago I decided to design a battle. I wanted to incorporate a couple of ideas. 1)Use a large enough map to maneuver on, in order to be able to try different ideas on attack and defense 2) Be historical 3) have a good map Well, I'm just about finished (play testing). The map is 3km wide and 2 km deep. The game size displays as 'huge'. I've tested it on my laptop (2.8GHz, 512mb RAM, 32mb video) and on a desktop (2.6GHz, 512mb RAM, 128mb video). The turns start out taking less than a min. to process, by turn 10 they are avg. 1-2mins., and seem to max out around 3-4 mins (75 turn battle). For me the battle is exactly what I want, but would anyone else be remotely interested in something like this? Thinking about SD, but if this is so far from the norm, which it appears, I hesitate. Axis (3 SSPz moves across the Psel) Elements of the 6 SSPz Gren Rgt "Eicke" (on map - 6 SSPz GrenRE's Pioneer Co, Inf. Gun Co, Div Arty assets)(likely follow-on: elements from the 1) 3 SS-Stu.G. Bttr. with att. 3 SSPz Rgt's two operational Pz VI - 2) entire motorized inf. bn. from 6 SSPz Gren Rgt "Eicke" Allied Elements of the mauled 52d Guards Rifle Div and 11 Motorized Rifle Brig. att. the four remaining guns of the 1008th Arty. Rgt. (on map - two Bn. of the 153d Guards Rifle Rgt. and two Co. from the 11 MRB)(likely follow-on: remaining two Co. from the on-line 11 MRB bn) Any feedback would be welcome.
  11. Had a question re: air assets, but I just found the solution (no air assets with overcast as a setting) [ July 13, 2004, 04:32 AM: Message edited by: frozen ]
