  1. My father's father was in the navy on the ship "Aviso Grille" which was Hitler's cruiser. He was at the reserve steering wheel of that ship. Well he never saw Hitler, they only laid mines in front of Norway where he spent most of his time in the war. Later he got cought by British soldiers in Belgium while playing cards in a foxhole with comrades :D Anyways they decided to check the enemy's position when they "suddenly" saw a British soldier leaning on his rifle and watching their game above them smile.gif

He even told me a crazy story about the time that he had spent in Antwerpes. There a mate of him and he were sitting on the roof of a building drinking more than 70 bottles of beer while watching how the city got attacked by Allied bombers. Sounds unbelievable, but it is true. He nearly was an alcoholic at that time, because they got nothing to do than drinking in the German navy. The next morning he went back to his ship and wondered where it might be. It wasn't sunk by the bombs, but a few meters away from the ship was a large pile with red stones, which was hit by one bomb. Well now the ship was covered with red dust smile.gif

My mother's father was in the Arbeitsdienst at the age of 16, together with other youngsters. They were supposed to work, but they never saw a spade. His story is not as funny. They often got attacked by low flying airplanes while they trained and many got shot. He got wounded by a grenade in the Czech Republic and later escaped from the Russians out of the hospital.

Well I miss their stories now, but I can remember, that my father's father told me that whenever the Tommys got under fire and had no tanks nearby, they ran away ;)

  4. Yes you are right, I am already creating a better more difficult version of the battle. With a weaker anti-tank cannon and I am thinking about taking away one of the Jagdpanzer. Also I will give the Allies more time for their attack, so that they will have about 3 or 4 more turns of time. And I tweaked the airplane a little bit smile.gif But this time I will play the battle a few times before I will release a newer version.

Today I played the battle for the first time in full lenght and I also achieved a major victory. Well it depends much on your luck. If the airplane fails to destroy one of your anti-tank weapons it is easier. I think with a little bit more balancing and tweaking the battle can become really good.

  5. I just created my first scenario ever and released it at the Proving Grounds. It is called "Die Flut". It would be nice to hear some comments how I can improve the scenario, but first let me tell you something about the scenario.

It is defense only. You have to hold a small Italian village against too many American and British enemies and you only have a small chance to survive. So you are not meant to win this scenario. The goal is simply to get better and better each time you play the battle. Therefore I have included some more exotic units and cared for alternation. So you will fight American and British troops, the enemy should be free to place its units and it has three directions from where it can attack.

I hope that you will like it smile.gif

  6. Hi guys, I am creating a scenario and have included a German Sd Kfz 7/2 Flak with a 37mm L/57 gun. There is also an enemy airplane in this scenario, but whenever the airplane attacks my troops my Flak vehicle is idling around in the landscape instead of shooting at the airplane. The airplane pilot is set to experienced and the Flak crew even one above.

So why doesn't it fire? Can only certain types of Flak attack enemy airplanes in the game? I am aware that a 88mm Flak won't be able to attack a small airplane, but a small 37mm? I even tried it with a Sd Kfz 7/1 which has four 20mm L/55 guns, but this won't attack the airplane too.

    Can anyone help me?

  7. Well this idea came into my mind after a BF110 blasted away my defensive line while I was playing as Axis. (Maybe the German pilot did it because I was playing as Italians ;) ) Well anyways the situation was this: Two infantry units of mine were dig in in the desert and about 30 meters away from a Valentine I tank, which was in front of them. My troops were attacking the tank from their position. Then the BF110 came flying from the other end of the map straight to the tank and my defensive line and dropped 2 bombs. Well the tank was cracked and the defense too, because the bombs landed between the tank and my defense.

To avoid such disturbing events, would it be possible to script the ai for pilots, that they do not attack enemy units targets near allied units unless no equal valuable target is available? Or at least script the ai to not fly into a direction where it could hit its own units when dropping bombs? I suppose that my defense would not have been killed when the plane would have come from the right or left side instead of attacking straight ahead.

Anyways the game is as good as ever! smile.gif
