  1. Does anybody know if anyone's done a hedge mod for CM:AK as yet and where I can find it?

    Thanks in advance

[NB - edit: ok - I realise that this was a daft place to put this post and the CM:AK forum would make a lot more sense but that's where I thought I was! Apologies - will post in CM:AK forum now - please ignore this]

  2. Hi - I'm a newbie at SC - have only played AI before and whilst I do ok against it, I have no doubt I will really suck when it comes to playing real oponents!

I am however keen to play some PBEMs and thought this might be a good place to start - is it still available to all? I haven't registered yet but if you are still taking newbies and are happy for me to join, I'll register as soon as I can.

    Regards to all

  3. Hi again all.

I think I read recently somewhere that the AI on SC performs better with Fog of War switched off.

Is this correct? I seem to recall people saying something along the lines of being able to hide units from the AI in eg Poland which the computer can't find, and that the AI can never therefore conquer Poland.

Is it always the case that the AI performs better with FOW switched off?

Sorry if this is a bit repetitive!

    Regards to all

Please remember the purpose of this thread was, is, and forever shall be to keep MasterGoodale from taking over the entire forum. We seem to have misplaced the worthless maggot somewhere, but we do not let a minor detail like that deter us from our common goal.

If we have, in some small way, taken some of the luster and grogdom away from the CMBB forum, well, I'm pretty sure it's Seanachai's fault. :D:D </font>

I'm not surprised ... it's a bit of a monster. If we have another crack at one in CMAK I'll make sure it's less daunting. So when does your free copy arrive, Maggot. Or has it already?

    Teddy

Nope. I'm in the same boat as the rest of you maggots, refreshing like the monkey I am. If I get it, you'll be the first to know since I won't be posting for a while. :D

Oh and Nero's Cat (are you on fire?) — you can find the website link in Teddy's profile.

    Clueless maggot. </font>

Searching under "houserules" here though will tip you off to what is considered the games more "gamey" moments.

Fortunately a lot of the game's notorious gamey qualities fall off sharply when you pick post 1941 Campaigns.

Thank for that - searching now!

  8. Apologies if this is totally obvious or is covered elsewhere (although I've checked the Strategy Guide and it's not in there but what exactly is the "Cookie Cutter"? I've seen reference to it in a number of posts recently but have no idea what it is or what its significance is!

Thanks again and apologies if this is a dumb question

  9. Hi all - am very new to this game and love it - am very much still learning the ropes v the AI before daring to venture out into human play.

I have a number of queries and wonder if anyone can help, with either specific or just general comments re my questions below. I have read through the strategy guide and other helpful posts on this forum but don't seem to answer these specifically:

    1. Playing as Axis, I have just knocked out Poland, France and Denmark. From this point I usually head north for Norway and Sweden in that order but by the time I've taken these 2 countries, I rarely have time to turn attention to Spain or the Middle East or the Med before Barbarossa kicks off. Am I doing something wrong (eg my invasion of Scandinavia or France, Poland etc is taking me too long?)

    2. What is the ideal force composition (within the constraints of reasonable/likely MMP levels at this stage, to take Scandinavia? How is this invasion best carried out?

    3. In the Med, I've rarely had any success with either Axis or Allies in dislodging troops entrenched in cities - is it just that I'm a really bad player even against AI?

    4. I've heard people knocking out LC in one turn - I've never done this - how is it done? Do you have to operate units back from Poland to do it? Is it possible to knock out Poland in one turn? I've seen the AI doit to me in 2 turns on one occasion!

    5. What are rockets good for? I read recent posts about getting them up to level 5 tech and full experience at which point they become very powerful, but spending that level of tech on the seems a waste in the early stages. Does their range increase with tech? At the moment, I only see them having a range of one hex but there was reference in one of those earlier posts them shelling London's port? How does this happen - following a successful invasion or can they fire across the channel?

    6. As German, I always invest tech in Fighters, Tanks and anti tank - sometimes, but rarely, in Ind. tech and never anything in the others. As UK I always invest in Fighters and little else. For US, I invest for tanks, anti tank, air and occasionally Industry. For Russia, it's mainly tanks and anti tank. I only invest in anti tank for Italy. Is this a decent use of tech or are there other things (varying on nationality) which are worthwhile investing in?

Sorry if this is a bit of a ramble but any help would be appreciated.

    Regards

I understand, you are your own person. You have game, you came clean, etc. What is up?

Thing that pisses me off is in our game (before this FOW Sniffer stuff broke), I was going to give you a good dose of RACK. If you haven't experienced RACK, you haven't played SC.

I respect HombrePlin, because he broke the story. Whether he completes the investigation, that is his choice.

I just want a competitve fair game, that is all.

    Legend in Boise >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> OUT

Can anyone explain to me what RACK is? Royal Airforce ....... ...... - or am I barking up the wrong tree there, too?

I have not seen the Axis AI attack anyone else when at +2.

So does that mean that attacking Hungary as Axis is always (or nearly always) a good idea rather than let the 3 Baltic countries join you later?
