  1. John Tiller's Modern Air wargame for the military users. I know what the commerical release will be, but not sure of release schedule, plus HPS's policy of "don't tell" when it comes to works-in-progress.
  2. lots of power required, unless you keep chraged capacitors as the ammunition, and I'm not sure that would take up any less room, whilst adding yet another safety concern. My idea for defilade tank firing would be to add something like a metal-storm esque ICM launcher to sit side saddle, similar to the TOW launcher on the Delco LAV-III turret - ie the munitions are inert, and then are fired auto-mortar like indirectly to grid co-ordinates in front of the tank. Not sure how big Metal Storm projectiles have got thus far, I know they had a 40mm 40 barrel system that fired at 12,000 rpm. This would give a tank platoon its own indirect capability, without the added pressure of taking up space. and a Metal Storm main gun would be interesting to see, if not that practical going completely off the tube launched ATGM thing tho
  3. Not sure what you mean by colour maps - all tacops maps are colour. Of you mean the more "map" looking ones than say in the TacOps demo, all that is a later designed map - some are done like that in the game, others are the same as the demo. You can use a normal .bmp image to create a map using the Major's map tool - but if you do reduce it to 256 colours so everything runs smooth
  4. It means that the differences between the military versions and the civvie versions are not that great, except when you play in a Multiplayer Teams game, you can only have 20 different people playing, rather than the military versions which are uncapped afaik (ofc, the 20 player cap isn't really a restriction, as you don't normally get over 5-6 players in a TCP/IP game.
  5. TacOps ANZAC is still being developed - the aussie Army still hasn't submitted which units it wants included thus far I don't think. TacOps 4 will be incompatible with any military versions when they come out, and the civvie version always will be. At the moment there's no ASLAVs, Bushmasters, SFMG sections, RBS-70s, Aussie Tiger etc etc - basically the army in 1991. But when v5 comes out all the additions that the Army tells MajorH to include will be passed on to the civilian game. (except for "sensitive" info - cos everything is "sensitive" in Oz ) I use the Canadian Coyote as an ASLAV-25, and the Bison as a normal ASLAV-PC. No Unimogs yet either edit: as for another game at a similar scale and scope, try Armoured Task Force, sequel to Brigade Combat Team by Cpt. Pat Proctor - more of a conventional mech forces sim, and as such doesn't model Aussie style of warfare that well. But it does have more terrain levels [ August 20, 2003, 12:50 AM: Message edited by: JRapkins ]
  6. not so much a concealed weapon, but you can play as a civilian. We had a network game with one player as civilian, one as OPFOR, one as BLUE, and me as umpire as Green (UN Peacekeepers). But the Rules of Engagement make it possible to be friendly and then not so friendly... word of warning though - it's not too fun as a civilian player when the heavies start taking shots at you in self defence redwolf: I think the demo is v4.05AH - has all the additions to the Aussie forces anyways. Just think it doesn't have the loading things implemented.
