  1. Download the v1.03 patch HERE!!!

We have recently become aware of an issue with the v1.02 patch which disrupts Play By Email games. We are currently working on a new patch (v1.03) which will resolve this issue.

Until this updated patch is ready, we have decided to remove the older 1.02 patch files and requested the various file mirror sites to do the same.

The new v1.03 patch will be made available shortly.

We apologize for this issue and appreciate you patience while we get it fixed.

  2. Labels is probably a Hotkey where a little 'label' pops up over units to show its state. I never use it and would not want any time devoted to it.

edit: Its shift-G. When a unit is running and enters a tired state, then a warning label pops up.

  4. * "Labels" indicate tired or exhausted for infantry.

    * Fixed a problem that erased the facade textures of large buildings

when "hide roofs" option is on.

    * Light two-level buildings on pavement now face properly as indicated

    in game editor.

    * Corrected a problem that caused some "pure armor" QBs to appear with

no allied troops in North Africa.

    * Corrected a small ammo roundoff problem when rejoining split squads.

    * Pillbox firing slits are a little harder to hit.

Discuss: How long would these changes take to code and test? I have edited out many of the graphic changes/TOE/etc.

  5. Firing LATW from within buildings largely depends on the state of the building. If its a well constructed building with intact doors and windows, the effect would be harsh on the firers and any other occupants in the room. But in a building with blasted out windows/doors/demolished-walls, etc, it is greatly lessened.

For first floor firers, it would also model the fact that they could duck outside quickly and fire. It does not have to model actually hanging out a window in other words.

  6. I was optimistically hoping that since CM2 was supposedly being worked on concurrently with the CMAK patch, that they would drop some experimental goodies on us. Just to see how we would feeedback on it. I should drink less I suppose.

I have the 1.02 patch and given the list of changes; what could have taken so long to playtest? Many of the changes have, as you say, no impact on the real gaming issues. What real playtesting is needed for a tripoded Bren LMG?

Since it is 'free', there is no real point in complaining. But I do feel like my favorite band has released a really bad album.

Its something scrogged on my win2000 machine. I am getting the same message when trying to re-install the game from the CD. I will probably have to format, reinstall OP sys plus software.

I installed CMAK on the XP laptop and the patch does 'work' there. The laptop does not display properly the menus, etc but the patch 'took'. When installing on the laptop, some files from the disk were not readable off the CD. I dod not have a backup of the CD. How do I get a replacement then?

  8. Panther production in 1944 was greater than long barreled Panzer IV (also in 1945). Of the tanks (turreted) built in 44, 47% were Panther. Only about 40% were Panzer IV.

Jagdpanzer IV and Hetzers should be factored in. They represent a portion of the AFV force. StuGs (III and IV) still outnumber them but they represent 'tough' afv like the Panther.

Marders and Hornet are actually a very small production. 42 and 43 being the big years.

  9. Instances of individuals breaking and running from trenches when under long term indirect fire should not be applied to the unit mentality of the CM morale abstraction.

It would be better if the game had units crawl along trenches away from the center of fire. To have a group of soldiers leave the trench is highly unrealistic.

Perhaps the game could split squads and send each crawling along the trench in different directions. This could abstract the effects of arty messing with unit cohesion. Small groups of soldiers could leave the trench under prolonged bombardment to simulate desperate behavior of evacuation of wounded.

Most vets knew that it was safer to be subjected to HE when under cover than risk frgaments while in the open.

Perhaps the Pinning model should have levels of pinning. Units in very good cover would go into a deeper pinned state then break being the thought.

  10. If the future game keeps the 1 minute time frame, I would like to see Area Fire as a timed command. That means I could target multiple area for area fire and the weapon would give each a 'burst'.

This would help flamethowers and bazookas and other weapons so they do not use up all the ammo in one minute.

It would also be nice to spray a treeline with MGs giving several locations along the treeline.
