  1. Excuse me. Reading this almost puts me in a state of rage. I don't want specific shopping in QB's. You seem to want that. Fine, but how MUCH time would that take to implement? I'm perfectly fine with having "preset" formations, because I find ALL the fun in using what's at hand and defeating the enemy slowly. So chosing formation / quality is not enough for you? You want to nitpick, add a unit here and remove one there? Is that really THAT MUCH FUN?

If you think so, fine. That's your opinion. But if you can't enjoy the game without having your shoppingspree in QB, you're not really appreciating the game at all. How are you going to stop someone from just buying RPGs for an example?

Enough of my opinionbased ranting and to the facts. Martin has said that the C&C model would suffer + it'd take alot of time. To me, I'd rather have them working on modules / CMx2 WWII than trying to get a good shoppingchart ready for those who want to add slight variation to an already variable and stable system. Cheers man, cheers.

  2. Now, may I remind you that I STILL have 1.0, I still love it and I will try to tell you why!

There is this map called House Cleaning. You're in charge of 4 Strykers with 4 squads of infantry and your objective is to clear out all the houses. Sounds simple enough right? WRONG. They pack loads of guns that if used will bring you great harm. To clear them out you have to work very slowly, using alot of area fire, cover and so on. Only way I've yet been able to deploy my soldiers in safe distance without getting clobbered the first few seconds is to lay a smokescreen and then dismount them.

It's just so much fun trying to supress the enemy fire whilst getting your troops out and ready so they can supress them even more. Only biggie I had was that the pathfinding screwed me over so I lost half a squad because they decided to take the wrong path around the stryker and thus resulting in several gunshot wounds.

Anyway, THIS GAME IS DAMNED HARD, just the way we like it. Well depends on how you play. Bradleys vs Technicals is not ideal, all in all. Man, for me, this is clearly the strategy game of the year. It's so immersive that games like Supreme Commander feels flat.

The only BIG downside, is the lack of patch (for me) + you have to learn how to use the mouse camera (not hard) and I had to get that dual core microsoft fix. Now it's almost charm, only need that patch + future patches + modules = HOLY COW, AWESOME GAME.

Btw, even though I totally love this Stryker brigade scenario, I'd really love to get my hands on some CMx2 WWII, with the new infantry model.. Oh it'd be yummay.

I'm so excited about this game, but also very tired. Damnit, I'll just have to live to play another day.

  3. I have the same jagged shadow problem as Yskonyn. But it's no big gripe. I found for camera movement leftclick hold + right click hold to work the best.

Anyway, I'm sitting here with 1.0, patiently waiting for the 1.01 patch to be released. Still think the game is loads of fun tongue.gif

  4. Morjit. My troops where all over that small building. There is considerably larger buildings then that one. Besides, they didn't come out of anything, I had spotted them in that exact building before going in. Well I thought perhaps they had hidden themselves or something, but as a matter of fact, when they went visible, they didn't do anything and just got killed after a long staredown.

  5. Perhaps I didn't make myself clear. The big problem I had with it was that they went into the hous with the enemy troops. No visual contact yet. They deploy around the interiour of the litte house (I might add, only one room). After they are deployed the enemy "spawned" right next to them. Appearing out of plain sight. Then after that awkward silence the whole abstracted combat began.

I've got nothing against abstractions, but that appearing out of plain sight, is that also one? Just wondering.

  6. Btw, the tac AI is clearly at fault in 1.0. Sometimes under fire, some of the soldiers decided to stand up and walk towards cover. That usually got them shot dead. Oh and when I where going to clear a house, I sent in a squad with the hunt command. There where 3 small houses lined up, so they went in the one furthest from the house I wanted them to go into and then went the roof way down it. When they got down there, they spread out, covering the windows. Bam, suddenly there is 3 Syrian infantery standing in their midst. Noone is reacting. Then BAM, one of the soldiers shoots the other. And so on. It took them like 20 seconds to take down those 3 men after they'd been spotted at -1 meter distance.

Conclusion: I really really hope that patch 1.01 fixed these issues. Because pretty much all I haven't mentioned is golden.
