  1. Hi Guys

Looking to get some PBEM going I would prefer CMBS patched to 1.01 but would also consider CMBN or CMFI I have all the modules for both.

Also you must be using CM Helper with drop box as it makes it easier to keep track of turns.

I prefer scenarios over QB's and self set up battles but would consider anything if it gets a game going.

Just send me a PM or post below if interested

    Robert

  2. Hi Ladies and gents

I would like some more people to play PBEM games against I have both CMBN with commonwealth Mod and CMFI,

I use drop box and H2h for the turns and would like players who can stick around for more than 2 turns even if they are losing if possible please :)

If anyone interested just Pm me here with an e-mail address and we will get it on as they say.

  3. well I am 42 this year and as you can see from how long i have been a member of this forum i have been around this game since CMBO which i bought after a review in PC gamer back in early 2003.

Oh and i worked out the other day I have been playing games on a computer of some shape or form since i was 12 so nearly 30 years now

  4. If I remember before I click start.... but why should I, the user, have to turn sound on and off every time I want to play?

Having music that can't be controlled, even during load, is considered a poor design feature. Has been since the earliest PC games. I reviewed games in the 80s and 90s that had this flaw, and for the most part designers have gone past that. Well-thought-out games today offer separate music and sound controls.

It's the game equivalent of elevator or supermarket music - you can't control it; you're forced to listen to it. It's also like those annoying web sites that start music when you visit, with no embedded volume control.

It grates. It joins things like TV sets in restaurants or coffee shops as someone else's tastes being foisted on the public. Sure I can Alt-Tab to my desktop, load the volume control, mute it, let the game load then Alt-Tab back to restore the sound. But that's a user-hostile process.

For me, it's a design flaw. And as much as the game interests me, I'll wait for confirmation that the music can be turned off in the game, and for good, before I buy it.

Hmm making rather a big issue over something that tbh is a very small thing especially on the very long list of things to be done that BFC probably has, and considering they only have 2 programers to do all this you may have a long wait.

I hope your not becomming one of those if you don't change this feature ill never buy your product type.

  5. Yes, that black text watermark in the Adobe Acrobat file was a bit of a nuisance. Poorly conceived, it was.

From the what were they thinking department, the only thing worse than the online reader was the steel box video on Youtube. Ghastly.

OTOH, the game looks like a lot of fun, and I'm sure that patches will fix a lot of problems that people are/will be encountering.

I expect the manual thing is to try and protect there work, as they would prefer you to buy the game and get the clean and fresh manual than rely on the free demo version.

I would expect a lot of the so called glitches are due to the fact this is a demo version and is probably not the same as the Gold version they will release to paying customers and by that i mean it may have been an earlier final candidate version than the gold will be.

  6. for anyone interestested this is i guess you gotta call it a copy of combat mission by matrix games called panzer command ostfront it is a update of a earlier game called panzer command kharkov if you have kharkov the new version is FREE it looks a lot better graphically than kharkov and winter storm the 2 games it is based on due for release early may looks interesting

Woops this post will get deleted, your not allowed to link to commercial products sold by rivals

    :D

  7. I saw a good DRM scheme the other day.

Brady Games water marks .pdf ebooks you but with your name on every page.

Apart from that their is nothing stopping you reading it and transfering it to any devices you like. Non-invasive and bleeding obvious if your not the owner.

Yea but it doesnt prevent you from giving it to someone else, or someone else just copying it, as the only way someone in law enforcement would know you shouldnt have it is if they knew your name and knew that you had copied the document without permission

The idea behind DRM is to prevent the theft of copyright from start.

  8. And you are who ? His mother ? All it shows, indeed, is that they had better manners than you do. I would respecfully suggest that Moon works for battlefront - so answering my question - in whatever tone it was phrased - is his Job.

    As you yourself said

Around here people tend to get the reply they deserve, from the forumnites as well as BFC. It's why I like this place, no blanket PR bull.

I expect if he had a problem with what or the way I said it he could have said so himself - and besides - if thats the way the forum works - you have to be able take it as well as dish it out so your umbrage at the way I said it seems somewhat contradictory.

Wow nice attitude !!! anyway on a side issue can we have a button added to forums so we can block people like this so i don't have to read there post's :D

  9. I prefer to support the devs and also developer independence, even if it means terrible activation methods. A world in which there are only devs and no publishers is a bright one indeed.

I prefer to support both tbh, i have over 30 games on Steam and love the ease of access and the service Valve offer, but i also believe the future of gaming in general would be a very dark place without the independents out there who more than most push the boundries of all genre in ways most large publishing companies wouldnt be willing to take the financial risk in doing.

I think there is room for both and in a way Steam helps a lot of independants by allowing them to sell there products through a delivery system that has over 30 million accounts. I am not saying it is perfect as Valve wouldnt be offering the service if there wasn't a profit in it for them but it helps.

  10. I have bought 5 PCs in the last 20 years, so it's going to be difficult for me to get upset about this.

I upgrade every 2 years and I find it difficult to get upset about this as well, i do think a lot of these posts are being created to cause an argument and not because there is a genuine issue.

  11. I do have to ask myself why are some many little things such a big deal to people, in the scheme of things looking at all the effort BFC have put into this latest edition of the game to make a big issue over somehting as small as move able waypoints i think is a bit much. especially when the game isnt even out yet.

But hey maybe i am unique in the fact i judge the product as a whole not just on one feature and i at least want to wait to play it first before passing judgement.

But then again maybe i am just feeding the forum trolls who knows !!!!!!

I standby what i said earlier re this post but maybe remove the bit about Trolls,

There are always going to be things that people expect in a game but i think its how you ask which makes the difference and i think the tone of the request and follow ups is way out of proportion to what is being asked and its efffect on the game.

  12. I'll take that to mean "Yes, they're NOT delivering on a repositionable waypoint system for Normandy."

Okay. Thanks for that (once again) disappointing bit of news.
