Yes Moon, I have the SE versian alright....with the 2 cd's... I'm plesently suprised it is so inexpensive.
-
Seems the SE versians will only be avail retail in the CDV versians not in the bundles.

Having recently purchassed CMBB retail for $40 Cnd....the online price (at least as far as Canada is concerned) of $45 US (plus shipping) is ridiculous. I suppose it will drop soon but I don't see how anyone would buy it now at that price when you can get all the bonuses in retail at a fraction of the cost.

Question Yaba......you mention Baron Von Richtofen ...... was this a relative of the famous Red Baron??
-
hmmmmm you could be right about it being a Russian. The helmet and uniform looks American to me (but I'm not an uber grog in identifying every detail)
-
Just checked out the CDV site and got a look at the cover art of CMBB. Oddly they have a pic of an American G.I. on the cover.

To continue this in Combat Mission terms. Hey! let us pit T-34's against Sherman's (or whatever the improved WWII versians were) point is. Give the player the options of doing that. Steel Panthers was'nt as innovative as CM but it had more flexibility in this regard.

I think the West should have allied themselves with Germany agaiinst the Soviets and waged a combined German/Anglo/American Jugernaught against the Red Steamroller. Combined the Commies would have been knocked out of Europe and the cold war would have been avoided entirely.

Moshe........So how do you get into banking?? Seems like a great enterprize

Why do so many bitch about so called "gamey" play?? Your opponent outwitted you Dave, deal with it. Anyone who says they lost coz "oh he was gamey" is sour grapes as far as I'm concerned......all's fair in love & war baby!I have discovered that when I'm playing the Axis side, my gamey opponents have had great success by moving their swarms of T-34s to 30-50 meters range and blasting my infantry with canister. -
Perhaps I was hasty to generalize those opposed to having element's like the SS as only being Jews. Perhaps nervous marketing execs are behind the revisionist elements in games like this. I am about to buy the retail versian of CMBB which should be out any day now. I hope it has'nt been "sanitized" or revised. However I don't tolerate being called names even on a faceless message board so that "idiot" remark was uncalled for. And not to go into some pro/anti jew flame war.. but for the record many jews try their damndest to limit Nazi symbolism in the media (if they feel it is offensive)

Ok, here goes and I don't really care. Sorry Jews, but the SS did exist and they are a historical fact. Deal with it. Historically based games have a duty not to sponge unsavory details away but to adheare to the facts since they are striving for realism.

Frankly, I'm sick of illiterate fools like this guy ramble on and on about something he knows nothing about till he runs out of steam. Combat Mission should win over anyone even slightly interested in tactical WWII combat , vetern or novice. Unless they have no real interest in WWII combat and really want Wolfenstien 3D instead.

When CMAK comes out you WILL for all intents and purposes have that improved CMBO you dream of. With possible exception of some terrain like hedgerows, CMAK should be able to simulate any battle with any major nationality on the western front as well as Africa/Italy.I hope CMAK comes out soon, it could be excellent, but ideally I'd like to see a further version of CMBO with better graphics, AI and command control. That would be ideal. -
Anyone know of a mod that will allow computer to play both sides? (actually for this or Strategic command) I have always enjoyed AI vs AI setups in games that have that option.

Ok this is interesting. I just checked with my local Electronic's Boutique and they will have CMBB Sept 24 for (get this) $40 Cdn. The price ordering on this site is $45 US. With exchange rate and shipping costs the savings is'nt $5 or $15 but a whopping $30!!!! Needless to say, any argument to convince me to purchess it online is ludicrious.I agree with Michael on this one. Pay an extra $5 and let BFC get all the money. However, I will go ahead and buy the retail version. Not because it is cheaper, but because it is the 1.03 version and has an extra cd full of mods. If BFC would offer that, I would much rather pay the full price to them. But I will have to settle with letting CDV get part of the pie and saving $5 (I dont know where you are getting $15).

Read the Dungeon Seige link.....LOL. Sorry to sound racist but only the Chinese would get pissed off that the designer would'nt sign the pirated copy of his game. In Asia piracy is so insanely rampet in all kinds of media that in North America it seems almost non existant by comparison.
-
Oh We Canadians welcome our American cousins to visit anytime...so long as yer peaceful. Else we'll have ta kick yer ass again like we did 200 years ago
-
On a further note, it would be great if Afrika was also straight to retail. These games are so good and many current wargames are so few in quality they would dominate retail space in the wargame section of a store shelf.
-
current price on here for CMBO ordering online is $30 US translated is about $45 Canadian...plus shipping around $53.... so with the $40 retail ya your right maybe $10 is more accurate as the differance in price. For me I also just prefere to buy retail if possible. And retail benefits Battlefront/Big Time by increasing exposure....hence everyone wins!!!!
-
Sorry Michael,
I'm no fan of GST but saving $15 or more on a game is just common sense. I know from past posts you've made that you are anti Ottawa. Are you here in Calgary? I am so just wondering.
-
Micheal Dorosh,
Are you suggesting that with the exchange rate, shipping (not to mention time waiting etc) the price of buying online would be CHEAPER than retail? CMBO is $39.99 at my local EB store.....way cheaper taking exchange and the other items I mentioned into account. CMBB will be too I think.

I don't usually mix politics with simple questions about how to buy a cool wargame but......I have always found it amusing how "fascist" modern Germany is regarding their Nazi past.....
Picked up the special edition today in Canada
in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin

Said it before...say it again......Battlefront's online US price for CMBB is outdated.... get with if folks if you expect anyone to ever buy online again.......
