Has Panzermartin done a tutorial on his technique?

No he hasn't, but in email conversations he told me some tips. They seem to work pretty well.

could you try a version without so much rust on it?

I probably will, but in ths mod I was going for a rusty vehicle that has been in the rain and snow for too long.
