  1. I don't know, but I suppose air planing concentrated more on manoeurvrability than speed. So, militars didn't think that a jet engine was more desirable than a nimble and agile aircraft. It may be UK, Italy and Germany didn't trust in real benefits of a high speed aircraft.
  2. Did you know? Italian air force even was planning a jet-fighter (the Reggiani Re 2007). And the first jet engine aircraft all of the world was the Caproni-Campini 1... http://www.strange-mecha.com/aircraft/early-jet/it-jet.htm
  3. Nice idea! [ October 24, 2002, 12:03 PM: Message edited by: Brancaleone ]
  4. There's some error about italian unity names. The correct name of the general is "Gariboldi" (not "Garibaldi", the XIX century leader!). And the cruiser was "Caio Duilio" (not "Ciao Duilio", that means "bye bye, Dulio!". A very inauspicious name, it isn't?). If you build an italian carrier, name her "Aquila": this was the name of the first carrier of the italian Navy, destroyed by bombing when building.
