  1. It is posssible that a reasonable representation of a CM PTO could be modded by amateurs from CMAK itself - something which has already been attempted wth CMBO http://www.wargamer.com/cm/cmworld/wartfb.asp these terrain sets were made availiable on CMMODs.com a few months back. Now authentic sand, palm trees, early war tanks and tropical British uniforms are availiable an even closer approximation could be tried, perhaps using early war Italians with their wide brim hats as Japanese troops wearing sun hats? The only problems then would be the voice wavs to be added and the whole terrain and equipment matching date and geographical area thing, if there was some form of patch which allowed selection of all terrains and unit types....
  2. I can see the pitfalls but on the whole I am sure non caucasian game players would be more pleased by some inclusion rather than otherwise. Perhaps my reference to the US armies relegation of black soldiers to rear area positions was a bad idea and would backfire in its intention, but where non-white nations fought a significant part in the theatre (particularly the Indians) I think the allocation of a specific bitmap is fair enough acknowledgement.
  3. I think the thing is that Brazilian 1st division was under command of US 5th Army which was a mixed command composed of both XIII British Corps and IV, II US Corps, the Brazilian unit was designated as a Corps command and although supposedly independent its units were switched between 13th Br Corps and 4th US Corps for operations.
  4. But the face BMPs are shared by all the units in the game inc German, I can't really see Black or brown SS panzergrenadiers! (although I have seen pics of the Wehrmacht Sikh freikorps recruited from anti-Brtish Indians it was maybe only 200 strong!)
  5. It does seem the make up of the Allies in Italy was distinctly multicultural, British forces in addition to their colonial elements included a Brazilian Infantry division a Palestinean Jewish brigade a Greek mountain brigade and several Italian units which switched sides.
  6. Aaah yes, but Wehrmacht Panzergrenadiers wear only their feldgrau 43 pattern jackets with no smock(too early for camo?)and the SS infantry share the same body frame on which the BMPs hang so a mod which showed them wearing the tropical jacket on with no smock would be possible - eg for warm weather scenarios, I see they already wear the 42 pattern tropical trousers.
  7. This seems a topic particularly pertinent to CMAK, though it can also apply to CMBO - obviously the big omission from CMAK is the Indian divisions in 8th army, there were more Indians than ANZACs for example. In addition the lack of black faces means that French imperial units such as morroccans, algerians etc are left out, also British West Indians, Gurkhas, and black US GI reserve units. I realise that all nations share the same face BMPs but maybe national specific faces would be an interesting idea.
  8. Any chance of a mod to replace the peadot SS camo with SS tropical fatigues a la :- http://www.lostbattalions.com/german33-45/ss/sscampaigns/ssanziopack.html
  9. Does anyone else remember the early 90's 3D WW2 battle simulator 'Campaign'? It was a crude forerunner of CM with strategic and tactical elements, the strategy maps allowed campaigns to take place on a level reaching up to army group level (the battle of Kursk being the largest)and the individual divisions when encountering each other would fight it out on a 3D map. Although nowhere near CM standards on the 3D front I have often wondered what CM might have added by including a similar strategic element. Anyone with a bit of nostalgia for their Commodore or Amiga can download the PC version of Campaign for free from here - http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?gameid=1729

  11. Hi thanks for the concern but in desperation I went out and got a new CD-Rom drive this morning, after my third copy of CMBB did the same thing i concluded it could'nt be the disk and hey presto- problem solved, after some expense admittedly, but i could'nt sit and watch all the mods and screenshots in envy!
  12. I have now bought and returned CMBB twice but have decided to give it another go in the hope it was the disks that were faulty. The problem is this, when I insert the cd either before or after Windows starts up it continually re-reads it over and over before either a:- recognising it as an audio cd which it can't play or b:- it causes a fatal error and my system crashes,I have no problems with CMBO or other games, I have an 8x cd-rom drive with a 20g hard drive on Windows 98, AAAAAAAArgh!! whats the problem and how do i fix it???!!!!!
