I was rather suprised to discover that my Arty spotter was unable to embark during a meeting engagement. Its the Australian 3" motar spotter with radio. December 1940, North Africa Is this an undocumented "Feature"? :confused:

Twice in recent games, I've had Russion tanks set to fire area fire at targets 200+ meters away hit a building that about 10-30 meters in front of the tank and about 5-10 meters to the right or left of my tank. OK, a clarification, I was playing with variable rarity that apprently resulted in a HUGE multiplier for the mortar. At standard Rarity the cost for a Soviet Airborne Platoon/50 mortar Oct. 43 Entire Platoon 190 Mortar 22 Feb. 44 Entire Platoon 195 Mortar 27 Mar. 44 Entire Platoon 197 Mortar 29 Apr. 44 Entire Platoon 199 Mortar 31 May 44 til end of war Entire Platoon 231 Mortar 63 Moral of this is: Do NOT play with Soviet Airborne later in war, Especially with Variable Rarity A 50mm Mortar with 4 men, could you more than 4 AIrbone SMG squads. The standard cost for the 50mm mortar is about 10. This is not the squad weapon, it is inherent (sp?) In the same period the mortar for the standard infantry has a cost around 10. Only with the Airborne is the coss GROSSLY inflated Clarification: The AIrborne motar has 4 not two men and carries around 65 rounds. Base value is around 22. I guess I am not being clear. The Battalion which consists of a Recon Company and a Battalion HQ and costs 354 A recon Company cost 384. The discount for buying at Battalion level is so large that have the additional unit {The HQ} and still spend 30 points less. So for an increase in command control and a fairly decent infantry unit [8 men] you pay less :confused:

A Soviet Recon Battalion consists of a One Recon Company One Battalion HQ unit. By adding a HQ unit and ONLY a HQ unit you decrease the cost by 30 points

In June and July 1941 A Recon Battalion ~354 points is cheaper than a Recon Company ~384 points. The difference is that the Recon Battalion adds a Battalion HQ unit. And the cost of the individual units is reduced by about 10-20%. i.e recon platoon with the same equipment now cost 25 when purchased as part of a battalion ans opposed to 29 when purchased as part of a compay. Seems Oddd to me :confused:
