  1. Quick question: how are you going to authenticate the game at startup on the Mac? I'm not sure the PC CD will work. Anybody? But to connect the Mac to the PC, the cheapest way is to use a "cross over" cable and you won't need the hub. Ask for it by name - most computer stores sell them ($5 or so.) It basically allows you to connect the Mac to the PC directly over ethernet without a hub (be sure to clean the Mac after you do this to avoid those PC cooties.) Another option is to burn a CD on your PC. Macs can read virtually any media so you could tranfer that way. If you have a Firewire port on your PC (sometimes called iLink or IEEE 1394 on PC - all Macs have them), you could use a portable Firewire hard drive. Extremely fast transfer speeds. Finally, you can put an Airport card in your iMac (if you don't already have one), buy and install a PC equivalent and transfer wirelessly. The Mac can be the server. It's pretty fast (about 11Mbs) and you can also share your Internet connection from the Mac if you're on OSX. Good luck! Replacement CDs are on the way according to Matt.
  2. Just curious if anyone had received a replacement CD for the bad CD/install issue. Can't play the game here - my CD is too Microsofted* to install enough files (especially since BF hasn't let us download Data3) so I'm just staring at my $52 frisbee and wondering, "Will it fly better than it installs?" *Microsofted - adjective: fatally flawed, unable to be used as intended, i.e., dorked. "Bob's car was Microsofted - he could get it started, but it didn't have a transmission."
  3. E-mail mystery solved. Matt put the wrong e-mail address in his post asking for people to send in their order numbers. He put in madmatt@battlefront.com instead of the correct e-mail, matt@battlefront.com. Probably just slammed with fixing this mess and all.
  4. I've tried several times to e-mail you my order info to get a replacement CD for CMBB (Mac version) but they keep bouncing - your e-mail down? Anyway... I don't have my order number anymore - I think my wife cleaned my computer room. (YIKES!) My only two e-mail accounts are: gpiland@callahancreek.com admark1@cjnetworks.com Not sure which one I ordered from but one of them for sure. Thanks and keep up the good work.
  5. Been there, done that. There isn't enough of the game installed (in my case) to create the basic folder structure and there aren't enough files to download to fix the install. Thus, my suggestion to allow a download of Data3 allowing for a complete disk-based install. But, thanks for the input.
  6. Yes, that was great, but it didn't help me to play and from what I'm hearing, a lot of people are having similar problems, namely, a big chunk of Data3 isn't installed. Is there a reason they couldn't post this file for download? I realize it would be big, but some of us have broadband and we could be playing while they scramble to fix the CD problem.
  7. Since almost all of the posts I've read indicate a failure during the installation of the Data3 file - usually late in the process, why not post a zipped/stuffed version of this file for download and post the link to the forums. Once we download this file, we can do a disk based install. Sound reasonable?
  8. Bad CD here, too. (Mac version.) Looks like this is more than just a few bad apples (pun intended.) Put me down for a replacement. Is there a place the Mac guys can download the stuff so we can play, too? Seems only fair to me. And if this sounds like whining, it is. :-P
  9. Just trying to get a feel for how often CMBB is shipping with a bad CD. Can't install, can't copy files to hard drive, can't make disk image. What do I do now???
  10. Anyone else with the bad CD situation? Won't install on different Macs, can't copy to my hard drive, can't make disk image. Blech!
