  1. In CMx1 there was a lack of accurate 3d models

for some vehicles. They were in the game as

far as having the correct performance, but not from the standpoint of their visual

appearance. *Substitute 3d models* were used to

fill theses gaps. It was a tradeoff decision

due to lack of CD space.

Will CMx2 employ the same substition procedure?

  2. " However, the pre Turn 1 spotting is automatic and happens all the time every time."

Doesnt this mean that both players, especially

the defender, will attempt to mitigate the effects

of this concept by ordering all of their mobile units to move as far as they can from their original deploy spot in the first few turns? That sounds like a potential problem.

I can see it becoming a standard opening procedure.

Deploy your units NOT where you want them, and then a mad scramble to reach those positions "where you DO want them" in the opening moves.

That just doesnt make sense and if it holds true,

many players would strongly dislike the pre-intel stuff because of the situation it leads to in the first few turns.

Of course I may be misundestanding the whole idea.

  3. Ive had serious back problems.

First stage is lameness in a leg and difficulty

walking. Hard to stand up straight because one

leg suddenly feels shorter and your sense of

    balance feels "off".

Second stage is you can no longer walk but just crawl around on your hands and knees like a baby.

Third stage you cant crawl but just lay motionless

from the torso down. Hopefeully you are in a bed

    when you reach this point.

Fourth stage is a buzzing electrical sensation

in your back followed by a MASSIVE detonation

of pain.(Spasms)You will scream and curse incoherently until you get to a hospital and

are shot full of valium. That last stage has

    happened to me 4 times.

My advice is if you hit the first stage immediatley cease anything you are doing,

go home lie down and lay with your legs

propped in an _/\___o position. Take

lots of ibuprofen and dont do anything but

essentials like cooking and bathroom trips.

Do not attempt exercise while your back is

still injured. Do not fill your bathtub full

of hot water thinking "It will soothe my back"

You will feel ridiculous sprawled out on the

bathroom floor naked when the emergency guys

    arrive.

Dont try to soldier on as normal and fight the pain. You may be lucky and the first stage

may never progress any further...by why test

your luck? You may lay choking on your own

vomit after they inject you with valium.

"We're sorry sir , we forgot to tell you this

medication can make you sick to your stomach".

    Gahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  4. No they stated they wont be doing that. Something

along the lines of "We could ship the game with

less vehicles (completely done) or more vehicles

(some unfinished) and decided to do the latter.

Looking at it that way, its a bonus to have them

in at all but I too wish I could see some of the

rarer stuff as it looked in real life.

  5. Hello,

Im using the 1.03c patch and noticed a problem with the scoring.

I let the computer generate a quick battle *allied attack* and I

play as the german defender. I deploy strong forces around whatever

flags the computer generates and go to the 1st turns order phase.

I look down to see my score and expect to see 100 percent. But I dont

get 100 percent. The deficit varies from game to game. Ive seen

my starting score as high as 98% percent and as low as 83%.

These are the exact settings im using that will always

give me the odd scoring anomaly.

    Quick-Battle , July, 1941, Central,

(Force Mix) Axis Infantry Only-----Allies Combined arms

    (Nationality) Axis German -----Allies Soviet

(division type) Axis Infantry -----Allies Infantry

    (quality) Axis Medium -----Allies Random

    (purchase units)Axis Automatically Allies Automatically

    (fitness) Axis fit Allies fit

    (casualties) Axis none Allies none

    (ammunition) Axis full Allies full

(sewer movment) Axis no Allies no

    (Battle Type) Allied Attack

    (force size) 500 points

    (mapsize) medium

    (handicap) none

    (rarity) standard

    (time) mid-day

    (tempeature) warm

    (weather) clear,still

    (game length) 50 fixed

    (map type) village

    (tree coverage) moderate

    (hilliness) modest hills

    (damage) none

    (choose side) Axis

    (fog of war) extreme

    (comp exp bonus) normal none

Using these settings I will always get a weird starting score below 100 percent

I did a little experimenting, I made just one change to the settings above by

playing as the russians instead of germans. As expected my 1st turn score

    was 0.

In another experiment I made just one change , making it an *allied probe*

I got the expected 100 points as germans

So whatever the problem is, it only seems to occur in an *Allied attack*

and only when the Ai plays as the russians and the Human plays as germans.

Can anyone duplicate the same thing? , or is it just me and some weird

    system problem on my end.

I believe I noticed this same problem in a patch previous to 1.03c but

it didnt appear consitently so I shrugged it off but now I can make it happen

    easily using the settings above.

  6. Thanks for the replies,

No im not playing with casulaties, mods,

splits squads, or anything else which

would give me reason to suspect its

causing the scoring anomaly. Thats why

Im so baffled ;o). As a interim measure

I did try reinstalling all the patches

to see if it made any difference. One

thing I didnt do is install 1.03a and 1.03b

    before applying 1.03c but I thought a and b

could be skipped thinking 1.03c would incorporate

all the changes in a and b. Regardless it didnt

make any difference and I still see the strange

score. It almost feels like the computer Ai

is being given a random handicap that substracts

from my score, or there is an invisible flag

out on the map that Im not getting credit for

(I cant defend what I cant see!)

I guess there just must simply be something

weird about my system or something in the game

got corrupted since no one else is noticing

    missing points in similar situations.

  7. Would anyone be willing to do a few quick battle tests to see if their score is below 100 using the type of situation I described at the beginning of this post?...If you see a score of 100% in that type of situation it would help me confirm something is wrong here on my end but if

you are seeing a score less than 100% percent

then how can that be explained? Any ideas?.

  8. Hello,

Ive been playing a lot of 500 point

QB's. I play as the german defender in a

an allied attack battle. I setup my

forces close to the flags to insure control.

I then go to the first orders phase and look

down at the score. I thought in past games

it would always read 100 percent since I control

all the flags and have not suffered any

casualties but recently I have noticed Im

only getting a score that ranges in between

88% to 98% percent. Why would I have a score

lower than 100 percent ? I have control of all

the flags and not a shot has been fired yet so

Im wondering why my score is less than 100%.

Im playing with the 1.03c patch.

Maybe Im missing something obvious but

could someone please explain why I might

be seeing what seems to be a strange score.

  9. Thanks for the replies and for your offer Tracer.

Ive done some info searching and my motherboard

is a FIC SD11. Although it has an APG slot the

manufacturer strongly urges not to use any video

card above 16Mb memory. So to upgrade the video card appreciably

I would have to go the PCI slot route.Think I will

hold off on any other upgrades until I get another

motherboard with better capabilities than this one.

  10. Hello,

Just recently aquired a hand me down Pc.

    CPU=AMD Athlon 500MHz

    AGP BUS=version 1 ,speed 67MHz, max transfer rate2x,aperature size 128

Front side bus speed=2x100MHz (200max data rate)

    system memory=128 megs

    Power supply=350watts

Im not sure of the specific motherboard name/type

except the installation CD said something about

    "VIA" drivers

I currently have a Jaton 8 meg PCI video card with

    9880 chipset

I know I should get anothe 128 meg memory stick...

thats the easy part....But what kind of name/make/

chipset video card should I be looking for to replace the hopeless 8 meg Jaton?

I did search this forum and found a few hints but

frankly I dont know much about video cards so if

anyone has any suggestions that would probably work with my system I would be grateful....what

I should be looking for and what I should be avoiding. Im looking to spend between 40-60 bucks

for this card as that seems to be the price range

    for budget cards.

I know this system isnt the worlds fastest but

with a better video card it should do ok with small to medium battles. I know Im not going to

be able to play the lastest greatest FPS or flight

sims but when you keep in mind my old PC was a 200amd with 64megs memory....what I have now

is much much better than that horror redface.gif ).

So can anyone give me pros and cons of the various budget cards?

  11. I too am getting the odd white ancient riverbed glitch. Im definately running a subpar

    system..Win98 410.1998 with an 8meg Jaton

Blade pro based on Trident 9880 chipset- drivers

6.50.542 ...based on the responses above it

would appear this a VRAM issue and so maybe

there is no tweaking workaround. Im suprised

since the rest of the game looks superb and plays

well. Is there nothing I could do

to fix this problem?(short of video card upgrade)I was thinking maybe the tile

sets in question could be modded into something

my video card could "see" Hmmm....If there is no workaround could

someone give me an idea as to how common the

affected terrain is....for instance if I generated

random quick battles...is this a type of terrain

the computer program would pick often redface.gif (?
