  1. Playing the Allies, I tried to stack the deck against me. Axis -100, Allies 0. Every country random with no partisans or free french, plus war in Siberia. Not only did the Germans fail to take France, I had Berlin by early 1942 and Rome by August of that year. There doesn't seem to be much of a challenge when you take the Allies.
  2. It seems to me that strategic bombers are an irrelevant unit in this game. Fighters can do everything bombers can do plus give air cover. Why waste research in bombers? To make them relevant you need to reduce the effect of fighters on land units (sea as well). This would make the bomber a unit to covet. Right now it's irrelevant. One last request: in the next version, why not make the ending date optional at the player's discretion? What is so special about May 1946?

  4. I'm one of the older guys here. I started in 1958 with Tactics from AH. From there I went to Gettysburg, D-Day, Afrika Korps, etc. My chess playing buddies were all into wargaming too. Finally in the 70's I went into miniatures - specifically ancients. I almost won the U.S. Ancient Title in 1977 with my Parthian army - came in 2nd. Just lost by a hair (or a horseshoe). Now my wargaming is confined to the computer, although my old miniature buddies still go at it.
  5. Version 1.04 I was playing Allies - 0, Axis - Beginner (if that's important) Around 1942 the Germans began to bomb their own port at Kiel and counting the damage against the British! I did invade Denmark at one point, but didn't get too close to Kiel. Sounds like a minor patch to me.
  6. This pertains to my USA AI post below. As close as I can come - and I think I'm right on here - my sub is located 4 hexes NW of Brest. The American transports always meet me in the hex to the SW of that one. Hope this helps.
  7. Using Version 1.04 with Allies at +2 and Axis at Beginner, with Russia neutral and USA historical, I took Poland, Denmark, France, Greece, and England. Spain & Turkey joined on to the cause. I then attacked and beat the USSR. While all this was going on, all the USA could do was to launch transports to the same old hex where the same old sub sunk it each time. I thought the AI for the Allies was supposed to be better with 1.04
  8. I'm playing the Axis with the U.S. at random and the U.S.S.R. on neutral. I took Poland and France. While invading Britain, the U.S. entered the war and landed troops in England. I pushed them out and took the U.K. I then attacked Turkey (always a good prerequsite before taking on the Russians) and occupied myself in the East with just a light screen of subs watching the U.S. Throughout the entire invasion of the Soviet Union absolutely nothing happened on the Western Front. Occassionally a sub would get attacked by air, but that was it. When I was ready for the U.S., they had over 2,000 MPP and I had almost 3,000. I'm playing verision 1.02 (I don't want to use the CD). Why won't the U.S. attempt to invade?
