  1. Thanks for these scenarios HT. I appreciate smaller battles, as my time is limited and although I enjoy the new engine, I find med/large battles way to tedious to deal with all that mic-managing. I preferred the old CMBO/CMBB where I could double click on a Leader and move all troops under his command. Regardless, thanks again and I hope you keep it up.

p.s. I did well with your first 2 games (lost a couple of guys) but really got hammered with the third scenario.  :>(

  2. Once again it depends on the formation, I recommend just starting a random quick battle and going to the purchase screen for both sides to check out what is inside each ones armor formations.

In the case of the artillery spotters that is weird, I cant seem to find them in there, but of course I could be wrong.

Thanks for the information. I did as you suggested and only see one Forward Observer. But if/when I get Infantry I always have one of them and more vehicles than tanks. Curious also as you can pick Infantry or Mech Infantry. Kind of defeats the purpose of "Armor Only".

  3. Many armored "only" formations have attached infantry units inside of them, for example a Soviet tank battalion will usually have a company or a few platoons of tank riders.

So this must have changed after CMBO, CMAK, CMBB as they used to be ONLY armor? Plus I usually notice Arty spotters, and lots of non-tracked vehicles.

  4. So I did a quick search for the name of the new WWII game coming out and did not find anything catchy. So I decided to give it a shot and suggest a name. Hopefully a number of other people can follow suite and make some suggestions while we wait for the release.

First there was CMBO, then CMBB, CMAK and now....CMNWG

Combat Mission Norman 'de We Go

Yes. There are a number of innuendos.

  5. I usually follow Geroge MC's guideline concerning the use of a commander with the following additions.

    1. Rotate gun away from where the enemy will attack. It will take an extra turn to rotate and fire.

    2. Hide the gun. (Note that this has had mixed results and does depend on the quality of the gun and its commander)

    Hope that helps.

    Good luck!

  6. Please Add:

    1. More bugs that cannot be duplicated. This will make the Grogs pull their hair out running hundreds of useless test situations and keep them off the forum so everyone can have some normal discussions.

    2. Large scale Nuclear strike option in the event that your opponent is sure to win. This should equal things out and allow for more "Draws".

    3. Upgrade the "WEGO" system to the next level. Here are some examples. WeeWeeGo - GoGo - WeDontWantToGo - WhoGo - WeAllGo. The opportunities are endless.

    4. PBEM Spam. Your PBEM file is spammed to as many emails as possible in order to receive at least one file back in as short a time as possible.

    5. New Barbie interface to allow for an easier "MOD" change of clothes and proper color coordination with tanks. THIS IS A MUST!

    Please keep:

    1. Current convoy ability. This function runs as close to the real world, if you consider how many bad drivers there are out there.

    2. AIs ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

    3. Ability for your tank to rotate in line of site of the enemy and wave its 'behind' at them in order to taunt your opponent.

    4. Inferior Tanks not taking a flanking shot at a Superior Tank so your opponent does not get mad at losing such a tough tank.

    5. MODS. This is a great thing. I love that I can go over to a friends house and secretly load my "Customized" MODS so that his Panzer II looks like a King Tiger. It makes the game so much more fun.

There are of course many other 'additions' that should be incorporated, but you asked for only 5.

  7. It is too bad some people quit before the game has completed, but I do know that it’s no fun to be on the receiving end of a very long drawn out defeat.

That’s why I think its good etiquette to offer your opponent a way out from complete humiliation. If I see that the game is "going my way" and my opponent has very little or no chance of winning, I make an offer for the both of us to cease-fire. Or, depending on the circumstances, he can surrender. This is only to shorten the inevitable and get back into another fun and exciting game. Often times your opponent may have set up his men incorrectly or misjudged your assault and has paid the ultimate price. And he knows it.

This can of course go the other way. Given the option to Cease-fire or surrender can be accepted or declined. There is nothing wrong with emailing your opponent (who has asked for your surrender) with a simple: “NUTS”.

I do find that by declining the option to cease-fire or surrender sometimes inspires my cyber-men to fight on regardless of the sacrifice and can give your opponent a newfound respect for your cyber-mens toughness and your strong leadership.

  8. Try using three 2" mortar teams together with a leader as their spotter.

Attacking: Use the above group to suppress the enemy and then rush in with other infantry.

Defense: Bombard the attackers front line (Woods) from a safe distance, taking some of the enemies firepower away from your front line troops.

    Hope that helps.
