  1. >What is needed is to allow a defending country to >set-up their own pieces! Russia is a sitting duck. This is historical. Stalin ignored all intelligence to the contrary, and refused to allow defensive preparations. I recommend Al Stewart's song, "Road To Moscow" for atmosphere during the initial German attack
  2. I think the disparity between tech 1 and tech 5 is historical. Compare a PzkwII and a King Tiger. (Well, there is no comparison, but...) I think your issue could be resolved by: 1. Increasing the ability of the Allies to generate tech increases 2. Slowing down the generation of tech advances I think that if #2 is done, that the randomness needs to be reduced or eliminated.
  3. My unofficial answer: Because it would destroy play balance. If the USA was able to directly transfer to England, you'd never see any American troops. Likewise, all the Italian points would be transferred to Germany. A more historical answer would be that soverign nations, even when at war, maintained separate militaries. And in the game, MPPs are used (for the most part) in purchasing military units. Now, you could consider Lend-Lease to be a transferral of MPPs from the USA to Great Britain. (And many opponents in Congress screamed it was just that.) But then the game includes a way to disrupt that, via submarines.
  4. I like the textures; they remind me of ambience in the game Fallout. I'm also glad that you've incorporated the pictures and posters without overwhelming the user with stuff that will keep them from figuring out the interface.
  5. I have the following two observations to make, that may have bearing on your comment: 1. Terrain matters. Units sitting in a river hex attack with reduced effect. 2. Units that sit in the same hex for a few turns appear to attack with increased effect. This may be due to improved supply.
  6. Answered by Hubert in another thread: "No difference".
  7. There was no "real" partizanship in France, the way there was in Yugoslavia and the USSR. The myth of the "French Resistance" was created after the war was over, as a sop to French pride. This is not to take away from those brave Frenchman and Frenchwomen who actually did work against and fight against the Nazis. However, there were no militarily significant units, and thus no activity at the scale of this game. If you really wanted to model the effect of the French Resistance (and the Low Country Resistance, and the Danish Resistance, etc), then just lower the income you get from those areas by one or two.
  8. Great game. I'm considering giving up sliced bread for the duration. The manual states that "normal combat" is when you start the turn next to an enemy unit, and attack it. And "blitz combat" is when you move a few hexes next to an enemy unit, and then attack it. However, the manual does not explain whether there is an actual difference between the two. Is a negative combat modifier applied if a non-tank unit does a blitz attack?
  9. My suggestion would be an autosave, done right after Calculation Phase II is complete. An added fillip would be a "revert to last autosave" button or hotkey.
