Tracer,Originally posted by tracer:they look great!!, but I was wondering if you were going to make these in 800 by 600 res??
it´s simple: load the 11002.bmp into your graphic editor , resize it to 800 x 574 pixel( I hope your paint software has a kind of " smooth " function ) and save it as 11001.bmp into your CM/bmp folder.

Gentlemen ,
the results of a lazy Sunday afternoon....
WWII photos and some propaganda stuff
Battle of Kursk painting.Found this pic on my hard disk. Does anybody know something about the original artist ?
Same pic as above , but with a more neutral ( less " teutonic " ) font design.
Russian Splash
All screens were designed with Paint Shop Pro and Adobe Imagestyler. More splashs ( winter stuff ! ) are under construction.
You can download the new files from www.cmmods.com , since If have no time to update my own website at the moment.
Cheers
Tom
P.S.: Credits to Alex aka " Pakfan " for the original design and font ideas.

Yunfat,Originally posted by yunfat:thats pretty tight... you use photoshop or what, if you don't mind my asking?
it would be great to know a little bit about the methodology... like where did you find that font?
The CM splash title graphic was designed by Pakfan using the famous " Luftwaffe " Font ( you can get it for free from several FONT websites ). I do my graphic designs with Paint Shop Pro and Adobe Imagestyler.
Juju,
I was very busy with my job during the last weeks and spent the few free hours with... ahem... PLAYING CMBB instead of working on mods or my website Hope to find some time in January to do all the missing updates on my site.

Coming soon ... if I get Pakfan´s permission to use his splendid CM title graphic ( in fact the whole thing is inspired by Pakfan´s marvellous design ). Hope you like it.

Most people put lots of effort in designing realistic terrain to augment the realism of the game. I've gone the other direction (sacrilige!) and created a laterally symmetrical map so that each side has the same terrain advantages and disadvantages in a meeting engagement.
The northern half of the board gives good cover for close infantry contact. The southern half is rolling steppe for tank domination. Overseeing it all are four huge buildings on top of four hills. The players each have two hilltops as (limited) setup zones at the beginning, in addition to larger setup zones in the rear. Plus, changing the weather or visibility conditions, or altering troop selection, will give the map a completely different character.
I intend this map as a QB map so that players will have full freedom to alter troops and weather for repeat playability.
Any interest in such a map? If so, is there a site that collects scenarios that I might submit to? Anyone else done any symmetrical or otherwise artifical map layouts?
Thanks,
Dr. Rosenrosen

There is a simple solution:
Go to: http://classic.winamp.com/
and download the old 2.8 (? ) winamp version
( yes ...it´s free ! )
After installing this most popular MP3 Player
go to " Preferences " and select " Options "
There are several in- and output plugins:
Select the " Disk Writer ( hope that was the correct name ) plugin and choose " PCM 16 Bit 44.1 Khz " as output parameter ( Mono- or Stereo depending on the source material ).
Then load your MP3 file , press play and - no matter what the original sample rate is - you get a nice CM compatible WAV file.
Attention: this feature seems to be excluded in the latest Winamp 3.0 release.

Jason ,
My site is hosted by Militarygameronline.com in the UK ( Btw: the guys offer a great service ! ) The problem you described is caused by two possible reasons:
1.) The MGO FTP server is used by more than a dozend websites , but only offers very few free downloadslots. " Page cannot be found " ( or somefink ) means " Too many users connected ". Please check back later.
2.) Please don´t use any kind of Download Accelerator Software ( or you´ll encounter another strange message by MGO ).
I apologize for the problems , but can´t solve them from Germany. I´ll discuss this stuff with the MGO admin next week.
Cheers

Hi ,
I´m currently working on a new " winter outfit " for the Germans. Since the German Army was unprepared for winter war in 1941 I thought I would give it a more " improvised " look ( Chalked/Whitewashed Helmets and " Tunica " (sp?.. sorry I dont know the English word for " Bettlaken " . As you can see by the lack of details the whole thing is far away from being finished , but I guess you get an impression of the intention.

No , you don´t need any kind of password ! This message is as missleading as " Page not found " etc.
The simple reasons for downloading probs are:
MGO FTP server is too busy and doesn´t allow more connections OR you are trying to download via download accelerator software like getRight , Mozilla or somefink else.

The boys will put it right ....and I hope this changes will make it into the next version:
- smaller terrain tiles ( 10 x 10 m or better )
- dynamic lightning
- better infantry models ( more polygons , better animations )
- kind of " learning AI "
Anyhow , whatever they will do , I pray that they will continue the WEGO concept and don´t jump on the RT train.

Title: Operation Rshew Forest
Type: Soviet Assault
Best played as: German defender or PBEM
Date: August 1942
Location: Rshew
Weather conditions: Warm and damped
Lenght: 10 battles - 15+ turns each
Author: Frank Torweihe
Historical background
August 1942: While German Army Group South was advancing on Stalingrad and the Caucasus, the weakened troops of Center Army Group ( under command of Generaloberst Model ) were involved in violent defensive actions. In particular the frontline at Rshew was a thorn in the eye of the Russian HQ. With large numerical superiority the Russians made attacks to the north and the east of the city. The German Infantry Regiment 428 , a unit from the 129. Inf. Division ( and now subordinated to the 6th. Inf. Div ) was ordered to throw back the Soviets already sitting in the city forest of Rshew . Without waiting for the arrival of the entire Regiment , the I./418 ( 1st Btn. ) attacked the numerical superior entrenched Russians and conquered a large part of the forest. But despite all heroic efforts the Btn. was nearly wiped out during these attacks and the badly battered units were forced to entrench themselves in the conquered positions. They knew that the Russians would counterattack soon.......
Sources: A book abouth the history of the German 129th Infantry Division and a 1:25000 topographical map of the battleground.
Comment: I am currently playtesting this marvellous operation ( and had restart it again on battle Nr. 4 cause I made some real stupid tactical decisions before ). The atmosphere in this battle is overwhelming and its a real " nailbitter ". No spoilers here ... download it from my website at the " Scenarios 1942 " section.

Aka_Tom_W ,
Check the scenario section of TCMHQ: You´ll find the CMBB versions of " Chance Encounter " , " Valle of trouble " , " Riesberg " and " Last Defense " ( but with slightly modified OOB´s ).

" No markers " and " Riesberg " download problems are fixed ... sorry for the URL typos
BTW: for the first time since two weeks I had no problems to access the downloads during the whole day (knock on wood). If you still have problems: please switch off your download accelerators and check your firewalls ( at least that was told me by the MGO FTP admin ).

Matt ,
Well , I always knew that the English language is popular here in Germany , but I guess it´s better to exchange the English text with a friendly German " Hier findet Ihr Mitspieler für alle Battlefront.com Games. " I have to admit that " Games " is not a German term , but I guess it sounds better this way
If you REALLY want to attract German visitor how´s about the classic invitation " Wenn ist das Nunstrück git und Slotermeyer? Ja! ... Beiherhund das Oder die Flipperwaldt gersput! " ?????

Gentlemen ,
A very talented new mod designer enters the stage: " Mr.Noobie " has released 11 (!) new T-34 mods together with a set of dirty tracks for the Russian tanks. Grab it from the " Sowjet Armor " mod page....and pray that there are enough download slots free on the FTP server A new historical CMBB operation made by Frank Torweihe deals with the defensive action of the German 428. Infantry Regiment near Rshew in August 1942. You´ll find it on the " 1942 " scenario page ( be warned: the mission briefing is in German. Maybe a helping hand is willing to translate it ? )
Concerning scenarios: I finished my last CMBO " classics " to CMBB conversions: now you can play " Chance Encounter " , " Valley of trouble " , " Riesberg " and " Last Defense " with CMBB. And..if you don´t like my setups..well , you can always use the maps for your own QBs.
