I have a cheapie emachine eTower 600is with an onboard AGP video card. It sucks memory from the main system. I currently have 96 meg, so it seems I'll need to invest in a separate video card.</font>

This seems to be one of those cases where the 3rd Reich skipped its intelligence homework (not that it surprises anyone). After all, KV saw test use in the Winter War. One would suppose them to have at least some sort of spying network inside their main ideological enemy's borders, too, but apparently not...

Anyway, should provide loads of fun for early days of CMBB timeline... :D </font>

I've got this QB going with an esteemed comrade from Oregon (you know, the place with the Ducks {that's Ducks with a capital "D", lot's of places have ducks with little "d"s} but I digress). So I'm playing this guy from Oregon, and I think he pulled a gamey on me. I'm noticing that he's done something that must have caused the game engine to do a woozy or something.

First off, he knocks the hell out of my Super Pershing with consecutive shots from his two King Tigers. Now that frosted me, because I spent a lot of points on that indestructible tank, and the first thing it did was become destructible. After that, his KTs swing around and knock out my 90mm Bofors, which had gotten kills on a flak vehicle and a howitzer so I guess the trade wasn't too bad. But now it gets crazy.

I tried rushing two jeeps straight down the center of the map, but both of them went 50m and reversed into cover. No matter how many times I pushed them up the map they turned right around. Now one is dead. How am I supposed to flush out his hidden guns without jeep rushes? Stinking Poles just don't know how to drive.

So anyway, his next move is to blow the hell out of the assault boat I placed on the top of a hill to draw fire. I didn't think they actually blew up, but this didn't last long. It took flak fire from every corner of the map and ended up in a pile of sawdust in about 20 seconds. That stunk. And when the hell did the French use assault boats anyway? That shouldn't even be on the list!

As I'm waiting for my 8 inch arty to fall on the town in the valley (where the flags are) he begins to decimate my battery of 10 2 inch mortars with flak fire. (Those flak guns mow things down, don't they?) I fired a good 100 rounds of mortar fire and hit crap. The ballistics must be jacked up. Someone had a great post in another thread about modelling sound with guns and I think that's why my mortars didn't hit anything but sod.

So now he's pushing his entire SMG company with flak support up the hill where I'm lying in wait for him with my flamethrower WASP things, but his flak already chewed one up from across the map. I've got about 8 PIAT teams trying to catch his Lynx, Whirblewind, and flak trucks in a crossfire.

At this point, I'm counting on my rushing of the left edge of the map with my Brit Paras.

So here's my point: Does anyone think that he's playing gamey? I mean, crap, those flak guns are overpowered. He shot up my Super Pershing with KTs, used some sort of Force Field to repel my Polish Jeep Rush, decimated my blind 2 inch MortarMen, and is now blowing up my Flamethrowing Tanks. I know he's doing something, but I can't put my finger on it.

Can anyone give me any ideas?

    Thanks.

As far as "gamyness" goes i think the best solution is to agree to terms before the game starts.

But alot could be considered gamey on your part as well, a Super Pershing coupled with British papratroopers? Jeeps being rushed into the middle of combat? I think alot of people have different opinions of what is gamey and what is legit,to avoid all of this you should just discuss terms of the game over with who ever your playing beforehand.

    Thanks in advance,

    Jake

It will be able to handle the maps with ease...i have the geforce2 MX400 in my computer and it works great! I repelaced a geforce1 in my computer with it a few months ago, and it performs much better then my 32mb Geforce1 card.
  5. What are your system specs?

Don't quote this in stone, but i think you would be fine if your computer has 128mb of ram, PentiumII/III 350mhz, and a 16 mb video card.

I would suggest upgrading your video card to a 32mb nvidia geforce2, they've gone down alot in price, i have a 64mb geforce2 that is going for around 80 bucks now i think wich is a decent price.

  6. Thanks! Thats insane that those are fuel tanks, at first glane i always thought them to be fuel tanks but then looking at the location i'd quickly change my mind thinking that would just be crazy to have fuel tanks right there. I can see why the crews would take them off.

Will the fuel tanks on the T-34's be modeled in CMBB? Will they be more vulnerable to sharp shooter fire of even rife fire?

Also did the T-34's have a problem with getting their fuel tanks shot at? And if so what and how much detriment to the operation of the vehicle did it cause? I assume it would be bad, but to what extent and how common i have no idea.

  7. What kind of tanks did the Chinese use at the time and how did they fare against the M4A3's?

About a million Chinese crossed the boarder, or actualy snuck into North Korea undetected and launched a huge counter attack on the U.S. (going from memory from a long long time ago so correct me if i'm wrong on some things.)

I beleive this happend in i want to say 1953? It was after MacArther pulled off that nice strategy of sailing behind the Korean fortified front lines and landing an army behind them in some port town in eastern Korea. This cause a huge dissary in the Korean army and eventualy left to there defeat, until MacArther pushed ahead further then the Chinese wanted us too.

I have no idea how many tanks or what kind of tanks the Chiniese used, but either way if i remember correctly it was a brutal winter so this might be a good way to guage how well each sides repsective tanks performed in sub-zero weather.

Iron Chef, why don't you just say sorry BTS, I wont post silly things.

Its too late. He felt the need and pumped his load into the nebelwerfer thread. He did manage to temper his inane post there with a little *smooch* on the butt for BTS.

Very clever little silly man this Chef is.</font>

  9. Thanks for the advise Slappy but i can't do that.

I do not expect anyone to apologize to me and i will not apologize for being misunderstood and later defending myself in this instance.

I only apologize when there is a need and when i am sincere about it. Sure i know i could take the easy way out and apologize and all would probably be fine, but i'm not like that.

I would not have made a fuss about something not worth making a fuss about to begin with. No point in standing up if your just going to sit back down when the wind starts blowing.

So if BTS is going to ban me.......so be it.

    It's been real guys.

That's funny, neither did I. I don't recall even addressing, let alone insulting you - and yet you somehow felt the need to include me in your childish comments.

If you expect me to listen to crap like that and not comeback with something then do yourself a favor and ban me right now.

I assure you, if you do get banned, it won't be a favor to the moderators alone.</font>
  11. As far as the Shermans successs on the T-34/85 in Korea, alot of things come into play in that war.

Were the North Koreans as proficient as the Russians in tank tactics and warfare?

What kind of battles did the Shermans have the most success in? Were they outnumbered, or were the T-34's out numbered? The Shermans surley could not have domintated in every meeting.

Did American air support play a large role in battles that had T-34's in them?

What were the objectives of these battles? Were they set up to see wich tank was better one on one?, or were these tanks simply part of a bigger plan and accompanied by other vehicles and soldiers?

I don't know very much about Korea but i feel the answers to these questions may shed some light on the subject of wich tank was better, or if they both had thier own respective advantages and disadvantages in combat against once another, like the Mig-15 and the F-86 Sabre.

Actually, I am tired of reprimanding Iron Chef for childish behavior, the inability to show respect towards others (especially those who know what they are talking about), and generally posting a lot about absolutely nothing.

Iron Chef, your level of understanding about WWII in general is not horrible, but when it comes to specifics and drawing conclusions... well... you should probably just not post so much. I'm giving you another chance to do this voluntarily, but I am prepared to impose this upon you. Your posts tend to "detract" from the discussions you engage in, and while not a big deal every once and a while ... constant and consistant behavior like this is against the Forum rules.

    Hmm, let's see ...

Steve is intelligent, articulate, has a proven grasp of history, plus a willingness to learn and accept his mistakes where demonstrated. Oh, and he's the owner of the forum, so ultimately his word is law around here.

ICS is a silly little man who posseses none of the above attributes.

    Does that answer your question?</font>

I think we need a crow bar to pry this guys head out of Dalem's butt.

The only thing i've learned so far on here is that most of the big bad war buffs on here behave worse then your steryotypical annoying spoiled brat.

Don't get me wrong there are some cool people on here with a sense of humor and some knowledge that they don't try to wield as a weapon on other people because they have small....you know what i'm getting at.

Dalem to think your brilliant because your posting about World War 2 on a World War 2 game forum is about as impressive as i don't know.....some Star Trek enthusiasts on a Star Trek board thinking they are smart because they can post in Spok language or something, and calling someone else stupid because they disagree on the subject that Spok was the smartest guy on thier spaceship thing.

Dalem, don't take this too hard...your still OffWhites hero, and if you ask me i think he's even going to send you a Valentine card tomorrow. :D

Each weapon system has its + and - factors. If I had the ability to tailor pick a tank for each individual circumstance I as a tanker would face, I can PROMISE you that I would likely not choose the same one each and every time. To say what "best" or "worst" is, one has to first define what that means. Survivability? Well, I think the Matilda scores damned well in that regard for its day, but was it the best tank? No. Best armored? Something like the Ferdinand/Elephant was the best in its day, but I wouldn't like to be caught up in a swift moving battle where the rest of my buddies were headed towards me in a great hurry. Reliability? It would probably be something like a Stuart, which I certainly wouldn't like to get into a pissing match with anything more than a Hitler Youth with a defective Panzerfaust.

And so on and so on.

What does any of this crap prove? That some of you have WAAAAAAY too much time on your hands smile.gif

Pick any book you want, whether you realy like the Sherman or not, it is FACT that in World War 2 the T-34 was better then the Sherman.

Oh, do go away. You're not funny, you're not knowledgeable, and you're not relevant.

  18. 7 page thread for the neblewerfer?? I think the scientists and engineers who developed the weapons used less space designing then this thread does.

If it makes you all feel realy smart to copy already invented and documented information out of books to have a mock scientific debate on facts that have long been concluded and agreed upon then go nuts.

Mabe someone here will be scouted by a Nasa employee and offered a postion.

Some one throw in some Katyusha material so this thing does'nt get any more stale then it is.

I'm not trying to be rude...it's just i think BTS has modeled the Nebelwerfer right and i'm sure it will be fine in CMBB.
