  1. I wouldn't use it, as far as I recall it is limited to 1 Meg attachments plus it only allows a 2 Meg account size. Get a netscape account, you can mail files up to three Megs and it can store 5 John
  2. Clubfoot, Have every intention of brewing a nice cup o cha amongst the German bunkers, you've done such a splendid job on the terrain I want to be able to sit there and enjoy the sea view (including the bit of incongruous Brighton pier)! Actually most of the scenarios that I am playing recently are Der Kessel in origin, any more beach assault scenarios planned using your mod? John

  4. Thanks for the response, it does indeed seem that it can do all that I asked. It also renders mod manager rather redundant does it not? Looks like q lot of downloading ahead!
  5. Pardon to the Grogs for the neophyte questions but,.... To organise mods there are two programs (from CMHQ), the mod manager and CMMOS, should I download and use both? The former for terrain and the latter for units? I am trying to locate Magua's Normandy set and see that it is hosted by CM outpost and Combatmissions, the problem is that the latter is unavailable. Is it out for the count or just temporarily unavailable? If no longer available is there another site where his mods are available? When using the mod manager is it necessary to install the mods in the order specified by the designer or it this automatic allowing one to simply select all mods desired for installation? For example, Magua's normandy mod 6 must be installed after the others, in mod manager must I then a) install 3,4,5 and then 6 separately or 3,4,5,6 all at the same time? I presume a) but would make life a lot easier! I want to play the "Hasting's Howards" with the D-day mod and Magua's terrain. I should therefore use the mod manager to install Magua's terrain and then the Normandy mod? If I then want to play a regular mod and remove the D-day terrain is there an easy way to do this or do I have to reinstall Magua's terrain again? Sorry for all the questions, I'd rather get it right from the beginning, John
  6. Thanks to all who responded, I will continue to be surprised by the ease with which buildings (of whatever construction) are destroyed. At this point is is standard operating procedure for me to destroy every building that may remotely contain a threat. I find this especially effective as the Allies given the large number of Shermans often present with their high HE loadout. I have always thought, when looking at the ruined cities of the second world war that this effect was achieved indirectly, by air and artillery, not by direct fire but it seems I was mistaken!
  7. For some time now I have been perplexed with the relative ease in which buildings may be destroyed by tank fire. In a recent game for example, one Panther demolished a light building with one minutes fire. Whenever I encounter infantry in buildings I simply destroy the building. In fact I tend to do so as a rule to any building that presents a good observation post for the enemy. My question is simple, were buildings really that vulnerable to direct fire?
  8. I am just about to start an operation by PBEM for the first time (team deSobry) and am wondering what my objective is as the Germans. There are no victory flags and although the briefing speaks of capturing the town as quickly as possible I see little point in rushing forwards. Is it the case that all operations are judged for victory points simply on the basis of the number of units eliminated? John
  9. Exactly, something with better compression, I'm finding the file sizes still somewhat massive after compression and on my slow connection it takes an age to e-mail turns
  10. Having just about finished "Le Lorey- a hard stand" by PBEM I have been impressed by the huge size of some of the playback files exchanged, reaching about 900K after zipping. Does anyone have any advice to offer regarding playing the larger battles and indeed operations by e-mail? What techniques do you use to compress files? What is the largest file size that you have sent by e-mail? Thanks to all who reply John
  11. Just started this scenario after reading an after action report. It sounds great but funnily enough, no fog! Is the engine incapable of producing this effect? I have the weather set to "full", Thanks, John
  12. Have just received the game and am trying to set up a game with another absolute beginner. The problem is that the file is appearing as a bunch of text in the incoming e-mail. How to deal with this? Thanks in advance for any advice, John
  13. A quick question regarding people's experience with shipping of this game to Europe, France specifically. I don't like to waste bandwidth with this but I'm getting no response from the battlefront team. I placed an order almost a month ago and have received nothing. I had recommended the game to several friends, one of whom received his copy in Ireland recently having ordered the game approximately two weeks after I had. Has anyone else encountered such delays? Not whining, I just want to play! John
