  1. Here two issues with the download and installation on Windows.

    1. The "Windows Installer.exe" file will not run unless it is inside of a folder named "DropTeamSetup". One would think it would work relative to where it is run from and not from a hard coded directory name.

    2. The autorun.inf file points to an autorun.exe file that doesn't exist. This means if this was placed on a CD it would not autorun.

    I hope this is not the intended structure of the CD that will be shipped. Since the autorun.inf file is in the DropTeamSetup folder this implies that this really is the base root and "Windows Installer.exe" file should run from any where as long as the base directory structure remains in tack.

    As it is if a CD was shipped with the root of DropTeamSetup folder being burned to a CD it would not install as intended for a Windows computer.

  2. Maybe you all had a bad batch of keyboards and they have a short between the keys and sometimes when you click on one they get switched.

    Or maybe there is a gremlin in the game and its changing your commands just when it will tick you off the most.

    Or maybe there is a weird intermittent bug in the game... naaawwww its must be the first one.

  3. Well they should have stated what you did wrong, and maybe they did, and you missed the chat messages and thought you where ignoring them so they kicked you.

    And/Or They may have been looking for a team player who would make sure to ask for directions from the team commander about what the plan is, etc.

    Or they wanted to keep the game more private and kicking off anyone they didn't know.

    Unfortunately the down side of voting is that if they are all buddies then they can keep anyone else out.

    Keep in mind this is a very team oriented game and to just come into a game and start placing turrets without asking the commander what the plan is, can be considered rude. Because there is a limited about of turrets and you may have places that last few ones and they may have had plans for them.

    Regardless, I wouldn't take it personally and just move on.

    This is why its TEAM BASED the best way to play is over a network or Internet with lots of others people. One team against the other. Each person gets a unit of there own to control, and there can be additional bots if needed. The bots can be controlled individually by the team members if needed, or the AI can be left to its own choices, or the Team Commander can be the sole director of the bots. The team commander can give orders for the other team members to follow.

    This is more like real combat than ever, you can plan a strategy before you start the game like generals do before a battle. You then are under the gun to execute this strategy and make changes to it under more real battle conditions because you have to make the decisions on the spot. The commanders in a battle can't say "Okay you German scum, we need to stop everything for a few hours while we think about what you have done and devise a counter for it, so please don't shoot at us." This is not realistic. Realistic is having the commander make these decisions while he and his men are being shot at, and then to give orders to real people and have them execute them the best they can. This is how DropTeam works at its best.

    DropTeam is more than a Real Time Strategy game, its more of a Real Time Combat Simulator game. In standalone mode it can be very much like a typical RTS game, but when you bring in teams with real people over the a network or Internet you change the game drastically into a RTCS game.

  5. I do not see the problem. One of the webster definition of proprietary is "used, made, or marketed by one having the exclusive legal right".

    Well TBG Software has the exclusive legal right to Demeter since they own it, and they can use it and market it how they see fit. Open Source doesn't not remove the rights of the owners of the software, it just limits the rights of all others who want to use.

    Simply put the owner has no limitations to the use of their software regardless if it's open source or not.

    Yeah I used to play that all the time on my Sega Genesis (I never heard of a megadrive). Yeah the game was great you controlled a fighter jet that can pick up units and move them to other parts of the map. You give the units orders and try to destroy the enemys main base to win. You accumulated money based the number of bases you controled on the map, the more money you get the more units you could build. The unique thing about that RTS was that your fighter jet could land and transform in to a robot and he could take part in the action, making holes in the enemy defenses when needed. That was a nice twist.

    Hmm I do not remember it ever crashing.

    Drop Team is so much better, and if you liked Herzog Zwei then you just might like Drop Team.
