  1. This is a tough one. Several times I've had only infantry and my opponent has had a machine gun or two in distant woods in foxholes. Because of the open ground, you can't get to the MG. I've had to waste arty to try and move them. It can hold up or destroy an entire flank of infantry. I tried to suppress them and attack from the side. They popped back up and took out my flanking squads. Anybody got tactics?

  2. Level 1 is cool for viewing, but against an actual tcp-pbem opponent... seems dangerous. Level 2 is more informative, but as said above, it's easy to lose track of the "big picture". I kind of like the idea from Kiltie Lad about playing a small qb against the AI like that.

I almost never use the over-head view except when I get carried away with the view arrows. smile.gif

  3. Played a tcp/ip QB the other day and my opponent had 2 very well placed machine gun/pillboxes. Lot's of open ground.

I had British infantry and no tanks. Not enough smoke to bother him. Finally took 1 out with a piat (shot #6 of 6 !). I poured MG fire into both pillboxes the entire game and never bothered him.

  4. I'm using a 670 mhz.128MB ram PC with a SB Live(value)card. Unless I'm imagining this, I swear the battle sounds were louder before. The ambient sounds are plenty loud, but the battle sounds seem to be about 1/2 as loud as they were. I've deleted and reinstalled the sound card drivers. Re-installed directX (8.?)now.

No joy. Anyone else seen something like this?

    (or better yet, solved this).

  5. My 1st night game the other day. It didn't occur to me about the very limited LOS. The terrain was already blocking most LOS and I couldn't figure out why my spotter was always blocked no matter where he went. Man, I marched him all over the place looking for a target. (he never found one). After the game, I realized it was the darkness. Felt really foolish.
