  1. *slaps forehead...* *...too hard* Thanks Bill for the info VERY much. Cant beleive I missed the "adding units" part. I have started with a small map. I made three islands; one is England, another Germany, and another is a neutral Algeria so I could explore that side of things later. Was fun figuring out the tiles for islands, lol. Wife told me this moring I spent 11 hours yesterday playing with this editor and the game...yikes! Speaking of which, I have to go to work soon so will be away for awhile. But I'll be reading more of the manual tonight, lol.

  2. Hi all. Ive bought SC2 and WaW and am playing with the editor. First, is there any kind of tutorial concerning the various AI and Event scripts? Im reading the manual and am studying the script templates. But Im not terribly familier with scripts of any kind so not sure what Im reading so I have a zillion questions.

Also, was wondering when I write a script, say the purchase script, are all the countries in my campaign listed in the one purchase script? Im guessing yes. Further, each country's purchases for each year in the campaign would be listed in that same purchase script also?

Lastly, how do I get a country to START the campaign with units on it? So far, all Ive been able to do is have initial purchases show up first turn in an empty country.

Thank you very much for your time. Im sure everyone has better things to do than answer questions from an ignorant newb...

  3. I played the SC2 demo Normandy invasion scenario...LOVED IT!!! I was the allies. My initial assaults were not planned and pretty hasty in execution. Suffered some losses but managed to focus and expand the beachheads. The supporting Naval units gunfire was a help all along the coast for yanks and anglos alike. Crossed the Cotentin penninsula and cut off Cherbourg then finally took the port and landed a few more troops from England. Then pushed down the penninsula to St. Lo. The Brits and Canadians meanwhile had a nasty fight for Caen. But airpower pretty much made the differance with the panzers that kept cropping up. Lots of losses again for the anglos and ran out of supplies but managed to take all my objectives to win a total victory.

Lots of fun. I think Ive found my next beer and pretzels game! I love grand strategy but games like Hearts of Iron and Gary Grigsby's World at War are a little TOO involved and detailed. I think SC2 strikes a nice balance between playabilty and detail like supplies, leaders, etc. It'll be fun to try the game against a human opponent but until that day Im sure the AI will suffice. Seems like everytime I left a hole open or a flank un-guarded, some little hun unit would sneak in and cause me delays, lol. I also liked the way this game seems to handle both grand strategy and also a more local tactical battle like Normandy...very cool. That adds playability to me. I enjoyed your original Sc for years Hubert. Looks like Sc2 will be my next addition...

  4. Gotta say Ive enjoyed the daylights out of this game, (ShockForce and Marines). While I was a bit skeptical at first about the new direction, Im always willing to give things a chance. You guys at BF have done yourselves well by keeping your word and producing an excellent product. And yes, your correct, a HUGE THANK YOU to the Beta testers...well done fellas, youve helped to make my down time a lot of fun.

  5. Dont mean to complain but is there ever going to be moveable waypoints or individual unit record keeping in this game like cmx1? Sure liked those features...

Other than that been pretty much enjoying this game. Actually did a real time scenario the other night when all I normally do is turn based. Had to chuckle when I sat there three minutes waiting for the moves to end so I could review the turn...duuuhhhhh...

  6. In the USMC Hills and Highways scenario, Some things I noticed about the objectives...There were 3 objectives, the intersection, the heights, and the village square. The intersection didnt show a green area at all so forgot it was an objective and never took it. I had troops on the heights but didnt get credit for it in the end credits or a radio message during the game telling me I had taken the heights. The green area high-lighting the objective didnt disappear either when I moved troops into the area. When I had troops move thru the village square, I got a message and the green area disappeared. Same thing happened in the USMC Beach scenario with its objectives except I got credit for them but no message telling me so and the green area didnt disappear. Otherwise, Ive been enjoying the heck out of this addon.

  7. Thanks for the reply seabee. Would be nice if the game had a pause function and an end turn function, but certainly not a fun killer. Yeah as for arty, almost ran a plattoon of strykers into a 155mm barage last nite. Those boys were a little nervous, lol.

By the way, former BM2 here...77-84. Have a good one shipmate.

  8. Been loving CMSF for the most part, espesially the latest patch, its outstanding. Lots of action and I think Im actually learning something about basic tactics. Of course, if I take on one of you pros, Ill probably have my butt handed to me...

A couple little things I been wondering about...

1.) Any way to adjust waypoints once you put them down?

2.) I cant seem to end a turn while its playing out. Any way to do that? For instance, Im having my units move over a large expance and nothings likely to happen. I want to end the turn and go to the next turn. But the game wont allow it until the turns played out.

3.) How long does it normally take to cancel arty/air support? Im moving troops into an area being pasted and dont time it right and POW!...they get whacked.

Battlefront, well done on this game...
