1. Thanks Terence - The only reason i joined up with Amazon was to try and cover some of the costs in running the site. Costs that have spiralled steadily over the past months. I'm not looking to make any profit from it. Even if i did i would still plow it back into the site in some way or other - extra diskspace, bandwidth, features etc. etc. Besides, not ONE person has ordered ANYTHING from it in the two months i have had the banner up!. :(

I've tried to keep the banner i have placed on the site small and inconspicuous (too much so by the looks of it! :D ) because i didn't want it to interfere with the look of the site. I hate sites that plaster banners everywhere!!!.

Manx_CM why don’t you let Admiral Keth and Spike take over control of your scenarios pages? It would free up some of your time for other stuff and you might even get better content/more visitors into the bargain.

Hmmm....i've got a better idea!...why doesn't Spike hand over HIS scenario section to me!. COMBAT MISSIONS has been running for over a year and attracts anywhere between 10-15,000 hits pw and during a busy month generates 20-30GIG of bandwidth per month.

What Spike is doing is his own thing (and i wish him well with it). His site looks to be coming along very nicely and like many other CM sites, it will provide a good service to everyone in the Community.

  3. Take the AI for what it is...a very good opponent for newbies/rookies that has a few tricks up its sleeve and will on many occasions surprise you. Think of it as a good tutor that allows you to hone your battlefield skills before you go out and enter the big bad world that is TCP/IP & PBEM. Coming up against a human foe is a completely different proposition entirely!.

Is this the same thing as Frank R's "August Bank Holiday"--a terrific, if huge--scenario? Or is it something different, maybe a followup?

Lots of really good scenarios out there... thanks for all the suggestions--some I've played and agree, others I need to try.

BTW, it's interesting to see all the support for Valley of Trouble; I played it to death in my demo days but also still like it. I think it's brilliantly designed to teach the ELEMENTS of CM; most other scenarios tend to feature some elements of the game over others, but this one seems to have all the elements in balance, and the scale is really nice.

err..well no...that was in fact a mistake that i made :( which i have since rectified. I did indeed mean "August Bank Holiday".

Just thought i would clear that up before everyone starts asking - "Where can i get this bloody BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY scenario that everyone keeps going on about, i can't find it anywhere!!". smile.gif

But the list of the best mods... it does not hurt anyone, does it?

There is a list! ....just choose what YOU think is best for YOU!.

Fuerte - Exactly the same sort of thing was recently discussed on the Scenario Talk forum under the thread "Scenario Archive". Often you won't see copyright notices, but that doesn't mean that a websites content or the files it provides aern't copyrighted, either by the site owners or the individual file owners. In fact, if i understand correctly, you don't have to display copyright - copyright is assumed anyway.

There is an unwritten rule that we don't leech files off each other and don't link directly. The CM Community isn't short of choice when it comes to websites and people making add-ons for the game. Things ain't so bad!!!.

Actually, I for one, am surprised BTS haven't redeveloped this web site to include a reworked combatmission.com (Sorry Matt, but the page is kinda ugly hehe smile.gif ) and also added in link-throughs to eCommercy type things like Amazon. It would make a great ww2 gaming 'center' (i refuse to use the word portal unless i'm being paid to hehe). I for one know I've bought around £200 worth of books since buying CM, just because of my incresed interest. Would be cool for the BTS guys to have got a cut of that smile.gif

Perhaps you could buy something from my site then!. Help me pay for the extortionate amount of money i have to pay to cover bandwidth charges. :D

  7. Gremlin - It's great to have your tactical guides back. I have made the annoucement of their return late last night via SuperTed's FORWARD OBSERVER site as part of the "Sidewalk Sale" extravaganza.

Congratulations once more on producing them in the first place. I know many people have, and will find them to be, extremely useful.

  8. Although it would be easier to do that, i have no intentions of EVER linking directly to another sites files. It ain't the done thing.

Also, any preference or advice i gave on that list would purely be MY taste, which is probably completely different to yours. Anyway, virtually all of the mods that are available have preview screenshots to give you some idea of it's quality and whether it's worth downloading or not.
