  1. Can't wait until the full complete mod is out.

One thing, whoever is doing your graphic designs (the DFDR logo, etc.) is excellent! They really capture the feel of desert warfare with the brown map in the background, pictures of Rommel and Monty, and so on. That's real professional work. I know that the actual mod is what you all have been working on, but I, like a lot of consumers, pay attention to packaging. And I just wanted to compliment you on your site graphics as well.

I don't have the movie version, but here is the original - I think its better than the film one, even if it is loaded with more obscenities.

Actually, what I find most interesting about this speech is his comments about teamwork, and how everyone is valuable, from the frontline soldier to the truck drivers. Thought it fascinating in light of the Army's recent black beret controversy and their (in my eyes, stupid) "Army of One" advertising campaign.

  3. I just got back from seeing it also today, and it was excellent. I can see where all the people who've read "War of the Rats" or who are Stalingrad fanatics might nitpick, but as a whole it was really good. The love story wasn't overly schmaltzy, it fit well.

I did feel that Ralph Fines and Ed Harris were underused as actors, and the nitpickers can have a field day with some of the historical aspects, but I think the greatest thing to keep in mind that its just a war story, not a historical documentary. And I for one am very excited about the recent trend of WWII movies. How long did we suffer through a drought of really good war movies? I hope the WWII trend of films keeps going, with more and more on the way, I'm hoping.

Overall, its an excellent film if you don't go into it looking for a documentary. It is a good story. I just hope that its successful enought to convince Hollywood and other studios to make more.

Things are progressing well. We ask that you be patient a little while longer. Thanks for the support.

Hey, thanks for the reply. I wasn't being impatient, I was in mourning frown.gif Here I'd gotten the greatest game in the world, and all the cool sites went kablooey in under a week. Glad to hear you're coming back online. Keep up the good work!

  5. I just got CM a few weeks ago, and during the time I was waiting, I spent my online time surfing thru many a CM site. Just as my game arrived in the mail, and I was able to experience the full game, three of the sites I was regularly visiting went down. Now Combat Mission HQ and Combat Missions seem to be coming back, but does anyone have any news as to Wild Bill's site? I was looking forward to downloading some good scenarios, but there doesn's seem to be a site with a whole lot anymore. Just asking...

  6. (cross posted to another thread, but relevant)

I actually saw an overwhelmingly positive review in KenzerCo's half-comic, half-game magazine "Knights of the Dinner Table". Being published by a bunch of real gamers (and not corporate flacks) who's opinion I trust, I downloaded the demo and ordered it immediately. So yes, there are probably a pile of us newbies here. Don't think of us as newbies, just think of us as...cannon fodder smile.gif

My only disappointment is that some of those great websites that I was surfing while anxiously wating for the game to arrive in the mail are now shut down (Wild Bill's, Combat Missions, etc.) I was looking forward to checking out a bunch of scenarios and mods.

  8. I ordered last week, and haven't even received my confirmation e-mail yet. I sent an email to their sales department, but haven't receieved a response there, either. Its going on 4 days now. I don't care how long it takes to ship, i just want to know if they are going to debit my credit card and let me know.

  9. I realize this is probably not the best place to post this, but please don't flame me. Early last week I ordered Combat Mission from the Battlefront secure website. I did not receive an e-mail confirmation of my order, so I sent out a message to the sales e-mail address asking that they look into it. I have still not received a response from the sales department. Is the Battlefront.com sales department down, or not accepting any orders? Being a long time wargamer, I was completely blown away by the Combat Mission demo, and am excitedly looking forward to purchasing this game. If anyone from the Battlefront staff can answer me, I'd appreciate it.
