1. I just loaded WINXP and am finding this "white translucence" problem that seems to be old to everyone but me. Just loaded the newest nVidia drivers for my Ultra 2 and the problem still exists. This is extremely annoying as when I'm attempting to save my game file, I cannot see the box and what I'm typing at all. And at this point, you cannot escape to desktop and clear it up.

What is a gamer to do? Are there any fixes on the horizon for this????

    :(:(

  3. Dog, I just wanted to let you know what a great site you have. Scenarios add constant freshness to this great game, but who wants to labor through a boatload of bad ones to get to the creme?

You provide an incredibly valuable service, and your site is top drawer all the way. Thanks for all your time and organizational efforts!

  4. I'm throwing myself upon the mercy of the community here. I'm perplexed and befuddled, (which may very well be causing this problem in the first place).

I've had a handful of battles begin with my morale already sliced to 96% and the opponent being awarded 4% victory pts before a turn is even begun. Yes that's right. After my initial setup my first morale posting is 96%. What gives? Did I place a platoon in a patch of quicksand and not hear their pleas for help. Do I have troops offing their CO's before the battle begins?

It sounds good, but I doubt it ever makes it.

... the paste to Paint or whatever is unworkable as the units look like globs of dirt using the "8" view, and for a large map where this feature would be best suited it's the only view that has a chance of capturing a good portion of the map.

I use this feature quite often. And I think it works great. For large maps simply take shots of sections of the battlefield. You can put in text, draw arrows etc. You can then print and modify in pencil as the battle proceeds. A valuable tool when you don't get a turn back quickly and you may forget what you were trying to do with a particular placement strategy. ;)

  6. Or should I say "out of ammo factor"?

I find myself having to micro-manage my troops a bit more than I'd like in the "fire/don't fire" area because of ammo considerations. It happens every battle to me, and it usually takes a few turns for me to find, a MG who is firing at over 400 meters and doing absolutely no damage, or a squad firing at a position 300 meters away with the same results. And before you know it these guys have burned valuable ammo and I'm scrambling not only with the condition of my men but how many rounds they have left.

And since I can't give them a do not fire command as they are taunted by an enemy squad prancing across their field of vision at 433 meters going nah nah na nah nah, I'm forced to place them in a hide mode until all vile temptations are gone.

Should ammo loads play such a large part in the strategy and tactics of our half hour battles?

If it is true, I can't say that I'm 100% surprised. They basically abandonned their core market once they started doing the 3D shooters.

Very sorry to see them go though. I was always hoping they would return to their roots in a big way.

Yes they hold a special place in my heart as well. I was an avid Civil War buff when they came out with their titles. (studied theire Gettysburg map before making my own trip to those hallowed grounds). They were terrific games, but could have used the WEGO system as the pbem was fried by rampant cheating. (you could open up a game turn as many times as you wanted in order to get the outcome that most benefited your side).

At one time this was an incredibly vibrant community of CW buffs and grogs. Sorry to see them go.
