Three of four different vehicle representations of the same tank could be on the map at the same time. That way the MOD folks can go hog wild and create tanks with different ID numbers or nicknames painted on the sides of vehicles.

    I really like that one.

1)Reduce the sharing of bmps between vehicles and no more using one bmp for both sides of a vehicle.

2)More faces. With at least 2 faces that are unique to each side.

3)Allow battles to be continued after they end.Declare a winner and a loser ,and just give me the option slugging it out for as long as I want.

4)I want the game to make me better looking.I want it to freshen as it whitens.I want it to remove stains in seconds.I want it to give me firmer abs in just minutes a day.I want it to be fortified with vitamins.I want it to put me in the lap of luxury.

I'm willing to wait until CM3 for those last ones.

  2.
quote:
Tiger: Are you working on some custom mods for this? I'd like the troops to snowwrite lewd messages about some former girlfriends-- in polish, french, german, english... and, oh yeah... canadian.

I believe he's working on some hi-res winter and summer feces mods. They should be great!

  3.
quote:
Correct me if I'm wrong, but as each turn takes a 'real time' minute... the average scenario takes only 30 minutes of 'real time'...not enough to make a large difference in day*night or fog*burn-off. The idea of fog only in some spots (the bog not the hills?) is certainly more realistic.

You don't think it's realistic for snow to start falling in the middle of a battle? I think it'd be unrealistic to go into a fight and know for sure that for the next 15-60+ minutes that the weather won't change.

As I said it would only be an option. You wouldn't have to use for every battle. It'd just be something to use every now and then.

I'm not demanding it be put in.The game's fine without it.It's just one of those tiny wishes that get posted every so often.

  4. I just sort of threw the day change in there.I'm more interested in the weather change during battle.

With a possible change in weather you really have to keep on your toes.As it is know,if you've got fog you can set up knowing it won't change. With variable weather you set up for fog but then you have to give some thought to what you'll do if it gets better or worse.

It would also give scenario designers another dimension to play with.If you chose the option for variable weather it would be set up like reinforcements are now (rain, turn 18,20%)That would lead to even more interesting scenarios.PBEM would benefit too.A change in the weather can turn everything around.

I just think it'd be an interesting addition to a future version of CM.

A Case For Full Squad Representation

Remember it's not just a case of polygon counts. If we see every soldier, there's no point unless every soldier is acting realistically. That means a heck of a lot more programming on BTS's behalf, and the in-game AI computation involved will have a considerable hit on your computer, on top of the huge demand of the extra polygons.

Speaking from a personal perspective, I HATE low framerates with a passion. Sure, you could theoretically run a game with X more polygons on a machine running at Y megahertz, but you're going to have to set your resolution down low to get a decent framerate.

The first-person shooter crowd are continually churning out more graphically demanding games, meaning that your computer is never quite fast enough to run them smoothly. As Mr. Clark points out, wargame enthusiasts own, on average, slower computers than your average twitch-game junkie, and the market is not big enough for the likes of BTS to risk alienating those who don't wish to, or cannot, shell out for new hardware every few months.

We'll maybe get 1:1 soldier representation when (a) the computers owned by the average wargame enthusiast are a heck of a lot faster than they are now, (B) BTS decide to make CM a soldier-level game rather than the squad-level game it is now, and © they are able to devote the time to programming it.

Good point. Why show individual representations if they can't move independently of one another? And if you do that you've drastically increased the number of things the computer needs to take care of.

Sure it'd be cool to see a squad lay down covering fire while a couple of guys snuck along the wall to flank the enemy.I just can't see myself being able to afford the setup that can run it any time soon.

P.S. If you throw out one graphical representation then,I assume, they all have to go and I'm sure the load of dealing with individual trees, bullets and fragments would be a bitch.
