  1. Everybody who has IL-2 and did some bombing missions know its HARD to identify enemy tanks, even when they are a few hundred meters from each other.

The tanks in IL-2 are modelled ok, but when you are at 2000 feet and with lets say 250 mph, you see only some dark dots.

Edit: In real life you dont see red or blue icons hehehe.

When you cut the icons in IL-2 you know HOW hard it is, i bombed friendly tanks many times :(

You need VERY accurate info, or you have a good chance to bomb your own forces.

I think that attacks did not occur much when tanks were that close to each other, did they??

I tend to get in my tanks a little bit too quick when i THINK a route is save, (like in the pbem with my bro now...i just shot a wooden bunker in a tree line and it wend quiet there, so i drove on to link up with my infantry; came out of that same tree line suddenly a at gun just while i was riding by with my side towards it...;darn).

But still; i know what to do, but staying with what i know is mostly up to my mood while im playing.

    Hehe, classic mistake.

A good player mostly have an AT gun next or behind a MG bunker, so enemy tanks see the MG bunker and think : ahhhhhh an easy target and drive to it........BOOOOMMMM ;)

  3. Hello Maastrictian,

Thanks for your post, they are good footage pics you have there.

Also thanks for the hints, i will use them for an updated version of mine later !

btw where did your nick Maastrictian came from ?

im just curious because in Holland we have a town called Maastricht and your nick is close to that name but i guess its purely coincidence.

  4. Recently i did an assault on a small village.

My men had to cross bridges, there were 3 of them , also some fords.

I dropped a LOT of smoke and 1 arty barrage on the village, and 3 company's went over the bridges with only a few casualties.

But then the smoke cleared and i tried to rush all my men into houses.....BIG mistake.

I had no overwatch postitions yet, the maxim's were not in postion yet and i had my (only) tank in reserve.

    Result : COMPLETE MASSACRE !!

All my HQ units were dead within 2 turns, with about 80 % of all men 2 turns later and i surrendered.
