  1. Hi All I acquired the game a few months ago, and has been mostly stayed in the lurk mode since then. Oh, I posted a few replies, maybe less than half a dozen - I almost split my sides laughing on that Geezertruppen post a while back! - which made me come off the closet. But by and large, I was content trolling these pages for gems of wisdom which helped my gameplay against the AI and my son (via TCP/IP; yes, I am over the hill). I love this forum and try to read it every day if I can (mostly at lunch time at work) and have to suffer occasional snide comments for being a "warfreak" amidst a very politically correct work environment. Nonetheless, the forum is a source of joy and occasional bewilderment (what in the world is the Peng thread all about?); and even the posts in the Peng thread can be very lyrical sometimes. Being a "pro lurker" suits me just fine, as it does not require much effort (barring the snide comments). But I do realize that I have to give something back to the forum in return. It will be a while though. I am just halfway through reading a dozen books on Panzer Commander + German tank encyclopedia + Achtung Panzer + other tomes from Amazon.com, and I don't feel competent enough to cross swords (so to speak) with the heavies in the forum. It suffices at this point that I am very supportive of this forum and BTS, and will do my part to spread the word.(I voted four times to make CM:BO the best strategy game in the recent magazine poll, and asked my son to do same). All of you guys (and Kitty) are wonderful.
  2. Something similar happened to me too. But that happened when I upgraded from 1.1b16(?) to 1.1b23. One of the downloaded games was corrupted (I don't know how), and won't show, as did the rest of the games below it (in alphabetical order). The title included strange symbols. I did a visual check and spotted the strange title. I deleted the file, which solved the problem. I don't know if this will work in your case though . . . ------------------ "The lesson, my young ignorant boys, is this: don't be a hero, on horseback, or otherwise. Always stay behind cover." But that's very funny anyway. ------------------ "The lesson, my young ignorant boys, is this: don't be a hero, on horseback, or otherwise. Always stay behind cover." SS Col. 5. Most of the above, in the course of a normal (losing) game. But last night was something unique . . . I was playing Elsdorf (modified) and parked a Sherman within a small depression at just the right side of the large house in the middle of the map (near the intersection), hoping to ambush any vehicle coming forward . Then an unknown tank represented by an iconic symbol and described as "sounds like a tank" appeared at the elevated ground behind the German garrison. The icon started lobbing shots, peppering my Sherman and ground around it, but the crew can not see it. And frustratingly, I can not determine what exactly it was hitting my tank either. I ordered the tank to move, but it bogged down. And the shots just kept on coming . . . kinda lost my cool, and I suddenly stood up, mouthing an obscenity. The sudden move launched my chair backwards with some force. It hit the glass coffee table (my PC is in the family room) broke the glass and launched the crystal vase towards the wall. And of course it broke as well. My wife (bless her) was so furious that she threatened to delete the game from the computer, if I can not control myself. I promised to behave, but hid the CM:BO game disc at a safe place she will never think of looking, just in case. ------------------ "The lesson, my young ignorant boys, is this: don't be a hero, on horseback, or otherwise. 6. Geezertruppen. That, Marlow, is a real gas. Almost split my sides laughing. ------------------ "The lesson, my young ignorant boys, is this: don't be a hero, on horseback, or otherwise. 7. I also saw the zero-ammo bug (if it is one, indeed). I played the Move-it or Lose It scenario last night to test the 1.1b23 patch, and the sharpshooter lodged inside the heavy building at the southern edge of the map started out with no ammo. ------------------ "The lesson, my young ignorant boys, is this: don't be a hero, on horseback, or otherwise. 8. 54. My wife would roll her eyes whenever I would say after dinner that something in the office really upset me (the financial markets, a customer, my boss -- it does not matter), and I am letting steam off. And that means CMBO, or Unreal Tournament (bots set to adept) or troll Battle.Net for my favorite StarCraft whipping boy -- my neigbor (who is 34). CMBO has been seeing more and more of the action lately. I like it so much that I introduced the game to my son (who is 28 yrs old. Score as of late: 21 - 9; there's nothing like experience, they say. Son (you know who you are), if you are reading this, stop smirking and spend more time working on your tanktics. And no more whining! Thank you all for your time. And thanks BTS for a wonderful game, which I hope to play for as long as I can click the mouse (or issue a voice command). ------------------ "The lesson, my young ignorant boys, is this: don't be a hero, on horseback, or otherwise. 9. Done. And thnx for the heads up. The Sims, a strategy game? This is quite a stretch . . .
  10. Nice work, Big DD. Will it be available at CMHQ soon?
