  1. I think a BB gun is a great gift for a 14 year old (27yrs of age myself). I had one at a very young age and two older brothers that had them as well, and yes...we did shoot at birds and whatever, and were not always the most 'responsible'. But, I knew how dangerous a gun was, and knew what they were capable of. If you have any other firearms (or not for that matter), I would suggeest putting him through a gun safety course. Contact your local VFW, they usually have the nearest/best place to take him for some gun safety.

Educating him on safety, and giving him a chance to do it on his own, is better than a 'friend' teaching him about guns with his fathers pistol (or his own) and will give him a respect for a gun.

  2. In a recent QB we noticed a strange accurance with a machine gun bunker. After using all of it's ammo (to the demise of many allied soldiers) the 'crew' of the bunker abandon the bunker. Understandble, considering they were out of ammo. The problem with it lies in the victory points awarded the allies for 'knocking out' the bunker, at the end of the battle.

So I set up a little experiment with 3 mg bunkers and several companies of allied inf. for them to shoot at (cruel...yes.) until they ran out of ammo. Sure enough when they did they abandoned and the result were points for the allies, to the point of winning the battle at the cease fire. Now it may be my twisted mind working, but letting a machinegun shoot all of it's ammo at you is not the same as knocking it out. Or my normal troops and mg's and guns and everything would be awarding a lot more points to the opposition, considering running out of ammo happens all the time.

Can this be modified? or am I forced to 'hide' the bunker and ambush 3 feet in front of it in order to keep it from firing the last few rounds, which would ultimately destroy the bunker.

  3. These are not really bugs, just things i think need to be included in the official release of TCP/IP. For one, i think the setup timer should be the same for host and client. As it is now, the host gets done buying units and then has the time to setup their units while the other player purchases. Granted it is not a lot of time,(depending on how long they 'shop') but in low timer games it makes a big difference. Second, i would like a window pop to Verify that you are ready to 'Go' after setup. I use the arrows next to the "Go" button for camera movement, and a few times i have accidently hit the go button. In PBEM games, I was able to just reload. But it hoses TCP/IP games at start.

  4. I believe their ballot is a bit confusing. I thought I was voting for Combat Missions, but when I got back to my homepage, I realized I might have voted for the game just above it. And we need every vote counted, so they need to recount my vote and count the countable votes so that we can have accurate counts of the counted votes that count. I am counting on them to count my vote in the counting.

  5. I like to save them for assault pushes. When I have broken the line, and I'm exploting the breakthrough, a few rushed up Mortar HT's do great for that instant support while I move up the inf. ones. Also they are great for a bit of a mobile smokscreen when you don't want to waste FO arty.

  6. It almost saved me. I was worried about my boss seeing me playing a game, so i hit ESC and escaped that disaster. Although it exposed my browsered web page of bizarre animal bondage sex that I was downloading. Thanks to BTS's fast escape I lost my job, my wife, and am now facing charges. Had it not worked so quickly, i would have been just caught playing a game and disaplined, But at least the ESC key worked great.
