  1. Who plans on creating new missions for the game? I do, if I find the game enjoyable enough to play, and purchase.

I'm looking to recreate some of the HG Division's battles, and since the game runs the entire war, I can pick and choose from the unit's entire history.

What do you guys have planned?

  2. 88's were attached to specific army units, and the Luftwaffe was working with the army the entire war to not only engage enemy tanks, but bunkers as well.

The HG Division was employed in this manner in 1940, as up to that point they were still mainly a FLAK unit.

  3. This is a purely selfish question, as both the Luftwaffe as a whole, and the various Luftwaffe infantry units (Fallschirmjager, Luftwaffe Field Divisions, and the Fallschirm-Panzer-Korps HG) are a keen interest of mine.

So, my question is what types of Luftwaffe soldiers, if any, are included in the game. In other words, can you play quick battles, or campaigns where you field Luftwaffe infantry from the various units it employed during WW2? If so, which ones, and what types are available?

I know this question is a hard one, as access to the game by most is prohibited. But, if the game developers could shed any light on the subject, it would be much appreciated by me.

Btw, I have high hopes for this game, as it really looks great. With Battlefront.com behind it, it's really got me interested in it, as they only push quality products.

Koios and Matrix put out a game called Panzer Command: Operation Winter Storm that looks a lot like CM:BB with a limited campaign. Has anyone played that game, and how does it compare to the CM series?
  5. I have a color picture of Generalmajor Schmalz, who commanded the HG division late in the war, and he is wearing a greenish gray jacket, although he has on a blue shirt underneath. I can scan it and post it if you want.

It's odd, because I went back and re-read the section on uniforms and it states that they did wear a blue grey uniform. Would this be the same as the regular Luftwaffe blues, or a dyed variant made specifically for the HG Division?

Hmm...I guess I was always wrong about this. I could have swore that they wore feldgrau...maybe it was that one picture that stuck in my mind.

Field gray was used by the tank destroyer and self-propelled units. Some examples of this uniform were also dyed blue grey, as well to signify their Luftwaffe status.

And, of course, the panzer units wore black.

It does state that the field postal service wore Army uniforms, so I am partially correct, lol. :D

Oh, the book is Hermann Goring: from Regiment to Fallschirmpanzerkorps. Great pictures, although none are in color. It has a great history, as well as a detailed analysis of their uniforms. Guess I just forgot it, or never realized it.

    Sorry Beorix, hehe.

  6. Cool, just checking. I figured you were, everyone here seems to know and be able to recall every minor thing about WW2 from memory. :D I'm a little jealous, I'll admit, hehe. smile.gif I'm nowhere near that, although I do consider the HG division a specialty of mine.

Would you ever consider adding in, or have you already made the Luftwaffe camo? I have a pic of them here, on my website, 3rd picture down:

Well, after one week with the demo I have cooled down a bit. If I compare the CMBO and CMBB demo scenarios, I must say that the CMBB's start to be boring very fast.

CMBO - 'Chance Encounter' and 'Valey of Trouble' were just good, simple battles with posibilities and lots of action. You just could see what a great game it is from the first moment you've started.

CMBB - Nothing to expect from the tutorial of course, but the two others are just so one-sided and dry.

In 'Citadel' you have nothing to do then see your tanks moving over the steppe as axis, waiting for contact, clobber the enemy, and drive on. There is no tactic needed, you always do the same. As Soviets you sit around, waiting for the Axis tanks to show up, try to make some hits and then sit around for another while. You have (except two tanks) no units you can move around, so in princip is the only challenge to make a good setup.

In 'Yelnia', you just place your troops (as Axis) then sit arround, waiting for the Soviets to attack and hope that the 6 T-34 doesn't clobber all your troops before time. As Soviet, you just move your T-34 in position and kill everything that shows up. The Germans have (historical correct) nearly no chance against the 6 T-34, while it is on the other hand as Soviets a pain to move you infantry around. The unexperienced troops just run away each time someone shots (realitic, okay), so finally you only need to move your T-34 and your regular platoons.

Well, the scenarios are maybe not really bad, but IMO they are just poor publicity. They show us some of the great new graphics, but they give us only a very limited view on the gameplay.

To be true, if I wouldn't be a CM enthusiast already and would base my decission to buy the game on the fun I had with the scenarios in the demo, then I would think three times to buy the game, and possibly would be the answer still 'no'. In CMBO I was just addicted after three turns, and still like to make a match with the demo scenarios sometimes.

Maybe it would be a good idea to add just something that show more bells and whistles. Something with more posibilities, so we can just experiment more with tactics.

    Just my five pence.

    Stop whining!

  8. Actually, the thread starter does have a point. Everywhere the Germans went, they met up with tanks that were more powerful than the 3.7cm AT gun, which was their main AT weapon in 1940. The truth be told, it was already outdated in 1940, but the Germans already knew that. The High Command dragged their feet on getting the 5cm AT gun, as well as 5cm cannon equipped panzers into battle.

By 1941, the production of 5cm AT guns was in full force, and the 3.7cm AT guns were being phased out.
