  1. OK, may be I miss something here. Do someone know the difference between a Sniper and a Sharpshooter?
  2. I'm just wondering ... do someone made some testing to know at witch distance a sharpshooter can shoot in CM? I know that in stallingrad, most sniper shoot to a maximum of 300 meters (they are somme guys who are able more than that). Am I wrong or sharpshooter don't seem so effective at long range in CM? It will surely have to change, because if CM2 is talking about the Russian front, those snipers make a BIG difference in the fight of Stallingrad. 3. I'm on your side at 100%. It's not everybody that are on this forum every day to read all the topics. I personnaly use the search function ... but as you said, sometime, it's just not answering right. But, as every place in the world, they are friendly people, and they are frustrated people. - In this forum, friendly people use their experience to help you (99% of the time) - And frustrated people show their experience by hitting the newbies. But for all the good guys here ... thank you! [This message has been edited by frag (edited 09-18-2000).]
  4. Thanks guys !!! You exactly answer what I wanted to know! Thanks again Frag
  5. I'm pretty new in the WWII world and made some research to know the difference between type of unit in CM...without REAL success. I'm sure that someone here can help me... Here is the questions: What is the description of the 5 types of german units in the scenario editor (army, ss,grenadier ...)? I'm not speaking german, so it's kind of difficult to figuring it out...
  6. Is there any reason why the pause are set to 15 seconds. It's kind of difficult to synchronise troup movement with this lapse of time between pauses. I think it will be much more easier to play with 5 seconds pauses jump instead of 15. But, as a software engineer, I surely know that the 15 seconds in questions solve a lot more problem thant we think.
  7. Seem like a lot of sense ... thanks guys. It's will help for sure!!!
  8. 17:30, in 30 minutes I will facing my computer at home, and play CM ... drunk or not.
  9. I like to board troup on vehicule to move them fast on the battlefield. But I hate to wait the other turn to tell them to disembark. By example, I send a tank at fast speed for crossing an open area of the battlefield and want my riffle unit to disembark rapidly to take cover in a fox hole. I have to wait to the next turn, for disembarking my unit from the tank ... fatal, most of the time. Is there any way to "preprogram" the disembark of the troup?
  10. For sure ... you will be in a good mood. But take care of your soldier, drunk general don't habitually have good success in their campain.
  11. VERY GOOD EFFECT. Like those !!! Great work. I always wanted some echo effect in firing sound (like in real life). When you will consider them all finished, don't forget to make the final pack!
  12. Hey Lindan, I just posted a message telling that bazooka CAN BE real killer ... because a lot of people think that they are useless. I gave an example ... THAT'S IT. At least, my message is related to CM, yours DON'T. So your the "Spoiler" and I'm not. [This message has been edited by frag (edited 09-12-2000).]
  13. Yesterday night, I played the small 10 turn scenario named "St-Anne's Chapelle" and laugh to death (I'm writing on my labtop from my grave at this time). My bazooka man was hiden 10 meter from the side of the road, with an ambush point, waiting for some half track to take a shot at! Suddenly 2 half tracks passed within 20 meters of my ambush point, my bazooka standup and took a shot at the first Half Track ... knocking it out on the first shot. The second half track, not far behind, was not able to take a shot at me (I was out of his LOS), so he rapidly engage on reverse, PASSING DIRECTLY in my second LOS. SHHH KATINK ... second knocked out. 2 shots ... 2kills...in the same turn. But 2 German riffle troups didn't like the friendship of my bazooka boy and ran like hell to get him... without success. I was able to run deeper in tall pine and lost them. Kind of Rambo story ... skipping some details. But that was crazy to see, my girlfriend was tired of earing me laughing at it...rolling on the floor.
  14. Gunslinger ... great work. Like it ... it's here to stay. But I noted that when you have snow on ground, you see the grid. I don't really want to play with grid. Is it really what you want or you just misplaced one file? [This message has been edited by frag (edited 09-11-2000).]
  15. Just can't wait for your screen saver. It will be mine at work ... to let me remember my night battle!
  16. I got a small problem printing it!? It seem very big, Photoshop print it to cover an entire 8.5 x 11 sheet. Is their a way to print it the good size (cd cover)?
  17. Do I miss something but there is no way to create crater and foxhole with the scenario editor. I saw that you can put some unit "Dig-In" ... but I was not able to create empty foxhole.
  18. I'm just freaking crazy of new sound ... I will REALLY appreciate if I receive it. My email : sdaigle@reflexnet.net Thanks again Oddball_E8!!!
  19. Hey ... those are good. But it seem that they are smiling to much, make them more severe. Just a recommendation. Don't guess me wrong, good work!
  20. But when it's time to defend ... men ...what a show!!!
  21. Yesterday night, I played the "Red Devil" scenario as the axis, I had to keep control of a village and a bridge. The british troup was VERY aggresive, I never saw an attack from the AI rich and aggressive like it!!! Here I come ... at the turn 25 I only had 1 MG42 unit of 2 men left, fighting like crazy in a Foxhole. 3 british units ran directly in them for close combat, but my MG42 unit kept position to fight like crazy wolf WITH A STATUS OK. I lost them finally, but mmeeeeennn ... those British are surely afraid today of german machine gunner!!! [This message has been edited by frag (edited 09-07-2000).]
  22. I red that in Stalligrad, German Spotters used a kind of periscope to look at the terrain when under heavy fire to avoid direct hit from bullets. But Russian sniper enjoyed to make it explode bettween their hands...
  23. Did you notice how the artillery tend to shoot near around the target without touching it directly. I saw a bunker in a game so much surounded by 105 mm crater that it appears like being protected by god. No direclty hit, but every inch of dust aroud it have been moved. It look like a bunker on a small island... I wish you can see the screen shot... I FOUND A GOOD TRICK to make the artillery more effective on stationary target. Aim 3-4 meters ahead of the target. Believe me, you will touch your target much more faster, I made it a couple of time for testing purpose. I know, it's gamey, but maannn...my 105 mm is a real killer now.
  24. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Priest: I want I need I must have, but then again I must wait. BTS if you see this, please do not make the same mistake other companies do with their titles. When you already have a great game it is all about evolution not revolution. Better graphics great, better sound woohoo. But remember that in the end the combat engine and design got the game it accolades.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> I agree with you Priest, we don't want a cool looking game with no fun playing it. Maybe I was not enough clear on this subject. Sorry...
  25. As a lot of people will says "Combat Mission is the best computer War Game at this time". With this title, Big Time Software will be very interested in developping and enhancing their software. The combat algorithm is already done and nearly perfect and the turn based play mixed with the movie feature make the game unique. So, do you see how this game may be powerfull in a couple of year? Imagine seeing all you soldier in motion like Rainbow Six (I can't stop seeing my bazooka guys aiming a Tiger while is partner hit gently on his helmet to let him know that the bazzoka is loaded and ready to fire), the lightning effect of gun fire at night, the dust moving up at the passage of a tank ... Wow ... the gameplay is already perfect at this time. So with the speed of CPU growing very fast ... we are certainly be able to see this kind of graphics in two years...
