1.
quote:
Originally posted by Michael emrys: Is that Austria or Australia (Ozlandia)? I am from the Unsettled Southern Area (as my Canadjun friends like to refer to it). Michael

AUS = Australia (Adelaide if we're being specific) BTW does the unsettled area refer to USA or somewhere in South America
2. I'm sure this has been done before but which country is the most dominant (in terms if users)? PS. I'm from AUS
3. "Jochen, I'm thinking that you might do better to live in REALITY and not some fantasy Waffen-SS/Germany idealisation alternate universe." Amen Fionn... Amen
4. Has anyone ever managed to organise a PBEM - athon (24 + hrs of constant PBEMing). Cus I'd be really interested if anyone would know how to get 1 up and running or if many people would be prepared to play CM constantly with no sleep for 24 + hrs? ------------------ Who says charging the enemy isn't the best policy?... words of the late, "great" commander Haigh
5. I'm posting this topic to ask a question about the French forces portrayed in the game. Why is their unit list a shortened list of the American Force Pool? I understood it that the Free French were armed by the British not the Americans? Would someone please set me on the path so that I might override my ignorance on the topic.... Thanx ------------------ Who says charging the enemy isn't the best policy?... words of the late, "great" commander Haigh
6. I was jut wondering why infantry units when loaded on a vehicle are not given the option to pause before they unload to get their timing right? I just find it frustrating that a unit with a squad arrives at their destination with 1/2 the turn to spare and just sits there. Am I the only one to notice this or am I doing something wrong? ------------------ Who says charging the enemy isn't the best policy?... words of the late, "great" commander Haigh
7. I can't say I have any 'proper' knowledge, however I think that the best tank (in terms of general usefullness) is the Stuart Light Tank. I can buy 2 of these excellent machienes fot the price of 1 tiger and they will outmatch it most days of the week. All you have to do is charge teh tiger from 2 sides and while the lumbering lumox tries to turn its turret to target you, at least one of your Stuarts is behind him and taking rear shots. Not only this but after the Tiger has been destroyed your mighty Stuart can now charge around the map and devistate your opponents infantry with 3 machienguns. I was just wondering if It was only me who noticed this or do other people think fast light tanks have an advantage? Also were many used, in reality, in WWII? ------------------ Who says charging the enemy isn't the best policy?... words of the late, "great" commander Haigh
8. I don't think I've lost so much sleep to one game as I have with CM (including CIV I & II). I'm a 15 year old student from Australia and I've "used-up" a whole week and many sleepless nights of my school holidays playing this game. My Dad's a stratagey nut so when he introduced me to this game I was suspicious at first (I didn't used to like WWII games) now I'm hooked. Its 3:30AM here and I'm still PBEM ing - WHAT A GREAT GAME!!! ------------------ Who says charging the enemy isn't the best policy?... words of the late, "great" commander Haigh
9. Bloody Americans. Corrupting our gene pool. [This message has been edited by Phil the Dill (edited 07-23-2000).]
10. I know I'm in a very small minority (like the only one) however for my money there's nothing better than a Marder. For the points you pay their often worth it. You can buy 3 to most good allied tanks.
11. Exactly! : Whats a few million less Russians to the world? ------------------ Who says charging the enemy isn't the best policy?... words of the late, "great" commander Haigh
12. I just finished playing the same opperation and won it without facing any resiestence (with the exception of the pillbox in the first turn). As soon as you get your paratroopers into the heavy buildings next to the bridge you've won. By the end I almost had all my squads in those heavy buildings, the crouts never made it past half way. I'd hate to play it as the germans: as soon as you loose one of your vehicles crossing the bridge they become an effective road block for your other vehicles where you just sit there to be picked on by piats and gammon bombs. To make it more even sided the germans should get reinforcements come in on the road on the west of the map on the British side. This would even be historical considering the Germans controlled all the territory around Arhnem. ------------------ Who says charging the enemy isn't the best policy?... words of the late, "great" commander Haigh
13. I for one want not to see these minor battles of no consequence to the final Allied war effort (as in CM1). We all know that it was the Aussies who won the war for the Allies. Therefore the next release of CM should be soley devoted to the Australian Imperial Forces and their corageous victories in the Western Desert (i.e. The Desert Rats). The game would not only focus on the Desert campaigns but would also include such Australian victories as Milne Bay (the first defeat on land of the Japanese which started the Allies on their way to victory over Japan) ------------------ Who says charging the enemy isn't the best policy?... words of the late, "great" commander Haigh
14. I've only just been introduced to the game of CM (and loving it) but I'm eager to stop killing the CPU and try out my un-orthadox tactics on anyone who's willing to play me. If so e-mail me at jimbo@picknowl.com.au* *please not this is my dads e-mail adress because my adress posted on this site doesn't allow attachments. reminder: send replies to jimbo@picknowl.com.au not my address posted in my profile. ------------------ Who says charging the enemy isn't the best policy?... words of the late, "great" commander Haigh
