  1. BTS or anyone

Question - Seeing all the mods made me ask myself a question which I hope you can answer.

When wearing winter camo -(not the mods but in general) should there be a bonus for some sort either making that unit more difficult to see and or hit ? Is this modelled in CM ?

The same question applies to vehicles especially in ambush - when hiding in ambush - crews would usually place whatever was available to break the lines of their vehicles and make them harder to spot. Does the hide command emulate this ?

And also, even when moving, should vehicles with on the field camo add-on (The CMBO picture of the Shermans is a great example, they are covered with branches) should they not be more difficult to see and hit ? Is this modelled in CM ?

I am not asking so that every mod has a bonus. Sometimes, I want to place a low profile SP or tank in a sparse covered area but they seem to be spotted all the time. In actual fact, the small vehicles (Hetzer, JPIV) had such low profiles that even in a field, if well camoed they were very difficult to see before it was too late.

    Comments please.

  2. I am wondering if there would be any possibility of adding -

    1) a vehicle (I know this has been talked aobut)to the Commonwealth OOB especially for the Canadians. I am thinking of the Staghound - America produced 2800 T17E1 (M6) for the Bristish Commonwealth. Check out the specs here at:

    http://www.kithobbyist.com/AFVInteriors/stag/stag1.html

I would be happy with the Staghound MkI with a 37mm, mind you, it would be great to have the MkII with a 76.2mm Howitzer , MKIII with a 75mm or the T17E2 AA with twin .50 cal! Sigh - just dreaming about the last 3 biggrin.gif

Still considering how many were built (say compared to the Lynx, could they not be added ?)

    2) Rocket artillery - in Guns of Victory by George Blackburn, I read and saw pictures of Canadian Rocket Artillery (modelled on the German launchers). These were a field creation and use in Holland and Germany by the Canadian army.

What say all the Canadians out there!?

BTW - is it possible to add vehicles or arty through a patch ?

  3. I don`t think the mines in CM are very realistic - accounts by US troops or such mines as Bouncing Betties show that this were feared by all. Still, I wonder if BTS would consider a purchase option for mines by Density. Maybe with a scale of 1 to 3 where 1 would be low density (30 points), 2 - Medium Density (say 45 points) and 3 High Density (60 points) - The radius would increase but just a little. In any case, if would give the defender some options and perhaps show how really lethal such minefield actually were.

  4. IMO - it depends on the situation... I purchased one in a flat terrain environment - where I had long range fileds of fire on the objectives. I used it as a building buster - the HE shells pack incredible punch. I wiped out several large heavy buildings and all the poor Brits that were in there. Of course the Churchills - did not stand up to it either - however, this was a game with 3000 points per opponent - in many circumstances -its not the ideal vehicle. BTW - he tried outflanking me but I had solid AT screens to protect the monster.

Goes to say - learn about your vehicles and in what circumstances to best use them.

  5. That is great pzvg!

Take your time - I think this is an evolving game and the realisim is simply growing and merging into CM - I just can't imagine what it will be like 2 years down the road! But yeah - anyone else working on buildings - plug away at it at your own rate - (PS - don't forget the flower arangements by the windows biggrin.gif)

  6. To all allied OOB experts -

I see snipers are included in some of the German formations but never in the allied ones (maybe I miised it). - Could someone tell me how the allies "managed" snipers?

Was there one per Compnay? One per Platoon? Was it that the best rifleman in a platoon was allocated with a scope and hence became a sniper? Where they attached to the Battalion and allocated on a as-needed basis?

Any info from the experts would be great.

  7. Guys

I have really enjoyed all the mods and the wonderful work Matt is putting into organizing them but I do have one request.

The mods have been fantastic for tanks (especially high res), uniforms, and terrain textures. Maybe I have missed a mod but I would like to see some high res buildings (I know a church was redone), everything else is becoming more and more realistic, would anyone be willing to modify the buildings?

  8. Hey Pat!

Are you talking about our own QB... Uh oh! I know it is an occasional thing at best but I have witnessed it first hand and it can be gruesome....Still, since you like neat toys and had lots of points, I thought you'd buy air support! Send it on or at least pray it will show up before I wipe out all your troops he he he he.

  9. What is the matter Pat - afraid to come out on a wide open playing field against my OOB? biggrin.gif....

Still, I agree and didn't know the logic between small, medium and large maps. We can try again using the above idea!

  10. M Hofbauer,

Thanks for the CC1 clarification. Still, what do you think about squads taking their own initaitive is they perceive things as going extremly well? I don't have any experience in the military so what do troops do? I figure, regular troops would do as ordered but say if you had green troops and you managed to successfully conduct an ambush - would there be a chance for the green troops to take off in pursuit of the enemy?

    Just wondering smile.gif

  11. To BTS or anybody who could give some insight on this.

I understand the game mechanics for when troops have suffered casualties and or are alerted, panicked or broken. Less control over your troops...Very realistic.

What I am wondering is if the other end of the spectrum is or can be simulated (or for that matter whether it should be).

If an attack goes very well - should troops not be more inclinded take their own initiative (move forward or charge)? I remember playing CC1 and while playing the Germans and doing very well, a couple of Assault type squads decided to move forward on their own accord! At first I was surprised but then after giving it some thought, it seemed to make sense - I mean, when things go bad, you loose control, but then maybe it should be a loss of control when things go a bit to well...

    Is this realistic? thoughts, comments?
