  1. how do you define elitism in a squad? if we take it say 4 men have seen combat and the rest none, are they(the elite) going to spend their time imparting the finer points of surviving in a battle,or are they going to just try to stay alive.

Are the green guys going to spend their time watching the elite guys or are they going to learn the hard way.

this is what happened throughout the war (and other wars) the veterans\elite carried on learning, using their skills for themselves.

The green guys only learnt the hard way.Its a sad fact that only the switched on green guys survived to become veterans.

It makes no difference to a unit at the point of attack, elite guys hide, take cover this is how they have survived by letting others take the risks.

green guys do what appear risky things because they know no better,if they live they become craftier, learn how to let others do the risky things.

an elite unit may appear to be more cowardly

than a green unit. However veterans and elite troops have survived by taking less chances,by knowing when to advance/retreat,even when to totally ignore their foe.

Elite and for that matter veteran does not mean they are super soldiers,so on the cm battlefront if your elite soldiers do not do what you want/think they should do,dont get mad thats how they have survived for so long

  7. id like to thank all at bts for the game they have produced for us to enjoy, to madmatt and fionn for the mod packs etcetera. To all you guys with your excellent mods, scenarios and operations.

Ive been a lurker/poster from the beta days

seen the flame wars, had my own arguments and

generally had a laugh with you hamsters. However this past few days even though its resolved (i pray) has left me with a sour taste .

i didnt want to get involved however a recent post has left me wondering if we all shouldnt call it a day on this board. To be accused of being in the same league as our departed Jp has finally finished me.

  9. i know that this has been raised before, but the way the computer draws up the lines after a battle ,is well for me the biggest glitch.Ive been playing various operations and no matter how i do seem to be losing ground steadily.

In the case of the arnhem14 operation (great map) i completly routed any german holding forces and got shoved into one hell of a tiny position

Infact i ended up with less than i captured

and my forces where crammed in tight.

Is this going to changed, can i change it?

ID rather that and im no computer expert that the AI drew a line around my forces at the end of the battle.

Just the only thing thats spoiling for me a great (ok the best) game going

  10. i must admit that im an arnhem buff as they say, im off there in a couple of weeks, now the operation arnhem 14 is good but one thing still gets me is, after finishing the battle no matter how much of arnhem ive taken i get forced into a tiny enclave.

i have a photo of the railway cuttings near the museum where the south staffs got forced back. this cutting is rather deep and wide, also a lot of trees in the area.

the road from arnhem runs downhill towards oosterbeek, it then joins another road running uphill from the river. 1 para approached along this road and received hvy

fire from the embankment/slope overlooking the river, they also came under fire from across the river.

if i can get my scanner working i,ll send you some pics, i got them from the public records office here in uk. Also the reports by the south staffs

    SORT OF SPOILER

    .

so far in 3 days of battle after inital routing of german blocking force i have come up against 1 squad and 3 halftracks?. 2 halftracks do not move and the other suicidally attacked me.

thats fine, i dont mind that what i do mind is being forced back and lossing 4-5 city blocks for no reason.

is there anyway of altering this???can u decrease the no mans land?
