I think you need to set it up with Shermans vs Tigers and PZIVs vs Pershings. All crews regular.

Try that and give us the results

  2. Guys,

Play the game against an experienced human via email, and you'll see the exact same behaviors...

    Why?

Is it because the computer is smarter? Heck no, you're playing a human. It's because that experienced human knows how to give orders in a way to take advantage of the TAC AI. It's all in how you give orders.

It's pretty cheesy to blame your inexperience on the AI's cheating.

Just because you may not know "how" to give orders in the best way yet does NOT mean the program cheats.

I know my infantry troops often seek covers

under heavy fire (controlled obviously by

    TacAI, which is great), but....

I seldomly see my tank doing this. 99%

of the time, my tank would turn over its

turret and react to the threat by firing

back (we assume the first shoot by enemy

missed), and it hardly ever thinks that

perhaps retreat is a better alternative.

A lot depends on the quality of your crew. What was this particular tank crew's quality?

if you agree we could do an ongoing AAR of it? ( you know, where we do a turn and write the AAR that night and post it on CMHQ that evening.. So, Turn2 is played on the same night as turn 2 is posted on CMHQ.

I'm all for that. Let's do it.

As for my attack ( or rather, dumb advance into the teeth of a tough defence wink.gif ). Yes, I think that it contains many lessons (I definitely have had a number of things I've overlooked punished and some good sense beaten back into me.

Such is the beauty of the CM system..You win some, you lose some.. smile.gif

First of all I want to say that it was Kwazydog (Dan Olding) who did the Stug, he also did the JagdTiger, and the JagdPanther from MDMP 1.

    Thanks for clarifying that Bil.

My hats off to Kwazydog for some great work on those textures.

Kwazydog, what is the possibility of textures, similar to the STug, for other tanks, to include Allied?

  6. There were a few issues to contend with.

One was the fact they used fuel which generally was a precious resource on the battlefield.

Next, there was the fact that the flame-thrower was bulky and heavy and had to be carried by a hefty fella who had gonads the size of Montana to be able to get within..say 60 feet to use the thrower. All this while becoming a marked man on the battlefield.

Then, there is the issue about limited uses. After a few bursts, the thrower is empty and the user has to resort to a sidearm.

Finally, there is the issue of volatility. FTs were just as likely to harm their fellow soldiers as they were the enemy. Accidental ignitings and wayward bursts tended to do that.

  7. My guess is you have a vodoo2. You'll probably need to get Hypersnap. It's available on the internet in a shareware version. Do a search and you'll find it.

    As for the mines...

AT mines are anti-tank mines. They will not be set off by a soldier. Only the weight of a tank will do that.

If you are using AP mines, then the squad going through just got lucky. Mines are spread over an area, and do not occupy every square inch of the area where they are emplaced.

  8. He can't possible have any more artillery

He wouldn't dream of coming this way

There, these guys oughta hold the line

I can't miss from this range

He can't hit from that range -snicker-snicker-

    That must be supporting effort

That must be his main effort

    That must be his recon

Those are probably his light tanks

    And finally,

Where in the heck did that come from?

"Double Blind" means playing one of the pre-made scenarios, with neither player having played that scenario before. If you play the scenario against the AI before playing the same scenario against a PBEM opponent you gain valuable intelligence you would not normally have.

It's not sporting to do that.
