  1. So that's what that lock is for! Maybe at least a quick reference is needed for documentation? And what is the little command icon towards the right for infantry that looks like they are laying down - hide?

For unit stats, I'm talking about kill stats. At the end of the battle in CMBN, when you click on a unit it will show you how many casualties it caused and what vehicles it destroyed.

  2. I've played a few battles now and feel like I'm missing a few things:

    - When using the top center button to position the camera: If you touch a unit icon, go to that position AND set the camera to the facing of that unit.

    - Provide the top center button to position the camera during the replay phase.

    - Option to show unit icons in replay phase.

    - Ability to lock camera to unit in replay phase! (using three above features) This really adds to immersion factor in replay.

    - Show unit stats at the end of the battle. It's really nice to know who did what.

  3. My theory is that the difference is due almost entirely to the nature of the scoring systems. In CMx1, you always scored points for enemy losses and lost points for friendly losses. Since both sides generally took losses and those losses formed a significant part of the total score, the results tended towards the center. With CMx2 scoring, there is often not a penalty for losses at all, or perhaps just a bonus for keeping friendly casualties low. Therefore the final score is more extreme for the same battle action as in CMx1.

  4. Has any thought been given to having an option the "minimize" the application to the desktop as opposed to having to leave it open, or close it down all together?

Yes, I just haven't figured out yet how to get the standard Hide/Show (Cmd-H) items to show up in the application menu with the frameworks we are using.

However, for now you can right-click on the icon in the dock and select Hide.

  5. there are no files in the incoming email directory. After seeing that error I thought maybe if I delete them out it would fix it. It didn't. Before I did that there was only one file in the directory

Hi - I'm responsible for the Mac version of this so maybe I can help.

One thing that can help with "too many files open" is to create a subfolder in your dropbox for CMBN files (say "CMBN"). Then use "Edit Install" to point the install to that subfolder. That limits what the refresh system is looking at. Then put the game folders in that folder.

Turning off Auto-Update as mentioned may also work.

If neither of these help then I'll keep looking.

    Thanks for the feedback,

  6. 1. I'm on a Mac, so I haven't played CMx_anything for about 7 years.

    2. I primarily play PBEM WEGO scenarios against people, very few QBs.

I have had a blast in the half dozen or so games I have completed or have in progress. I have not run into any game-breaking bugs or any other issues above the "quirk" level, which I would say is remarkable for a 1.0 product. I can see how it could feel like more work in some areas, but overall the level of detail and realism adds way more on the positive side. I have adjusted to the interface fine and don't really have any complaints there other than that you can't 'Clear Target' with a keystroke on the Mac (no, Delete doesn't work).

I'm really looking forward to seeing this system evolve and improve further!

  7. Great job FMB!

I finished with 21 killed/18 wounded (vs 219/115/16 for the enemy), most of those were in a couple of unfortunate miscalculations regarding LOS and enemy AFVs.

The concept was great, my only criticism would be the last battle, my defensive force was never really threatened, their mortar team racked up 60 casualties! I will definitely go back through it again with different choices. Well done!
