  1. I have just been playing a little with the demo and am surprized that my soviet tanks can run the battlefront at will. What happened to the panzerfaust & it's little brother? This really changes the tables for the germans, as I hate those panzerfausts.

Was this left out of the demo only? Or maybe the germans didn't have them on this front?

    Thanks

  2. I was reading the 4-24-2000-3:54pm post about the new movement. At the beginning I thought it was good, by the end of the tread I was confused again and not so enthusiastic.

The thing I don't like (really the only thing) is when moving 15 tanks, 3 platoons, 10 trucks down a road to the front line, such as when reinforcements come. Now I have to pick every one and take it down the road. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to define say one to three routes that you can attach all the troops to and have them automatically follow to the back staging area of the front line activity????

From the thread, it appears as CM2 is going to be just like CM1. If you use the group thing, the troops on the left will go left of the bridge, and the troops on the right will go right of the bridge, while real troops would move to the bridge & cross it not through the ditches on each side (this is a movement order, in an area already cleared out of enemy).

Thanks, looking forward to the CM2

  3. In CM, all my tanks, troops, etc have boxes underneath them, usually some bright or weird color. Is this usual? I thought at one time these weren't there.

Does anyone now which .bmp or whatever can fix this so the tank looks like it is sitting on the ground in lieu of some box?

    Thanks

  4. Well, a tiger picking off shermans is pretty standard, ain't no way that is exciting. Getting a sherman all the way around to the rear of a Tiger without running into his panther or Stug buddies is an accomplishment. Plus I like to see the those tigers being blown to ****.

    I rest my case.

  5. I am making a senerio, forget the spelling!, and got a couple of problems. Can someone help????

    1. I made the zones with no neutral area, but when I start the game the germans are in a straight line from the border. They are even in the allied zone! That is weird, appears to be somehow tied to the 400m thing on the setup screen in the editor.

    2. If this cannot be fixed how do you assign the default locations by hand to the germans so they arent' in a line.

If I can get this fixed, I can post the game.

    Thanks for any help.

  6. I have been enjoying the board while waiting for the game to come out. There has been a lot a talk about computer processors & video cards. I have a 233P2 with nvidia 3d card and the demo seems to run pretty good. The smoke is not transparent is the only thing I can see that is not up to snuff. How do I know what I am missing if I don't upgrade. I hate to upgrade just to find out it was unnecessary. Game speed is not a real big issue with the turn based games as I see it. What do you think?

  7. Well i'm back. I cannot save games. I think there may be a problem when the game is installed in another drive other than c:? I installed mine in f: and the PBEM & SAVED games folders were put on my desktop. I moved them to the same directory as CM, but it still doesn't work. I may reinstall on c:, but I can see this may be a bigger issue?

  8. I'll try it tomorrow. But I wasn't saving a PBEM game, just a regular game, and I might have done it during the orders phase.

I guess we'll never find out about my panther, it probably wouldn't have made it, but I had some after thoughts about bringing a platoon up and having them kelled off too!

    Thanks.

  9. A little problem, the antitank teams were chasing my panther over the hill south of the town, and I had to leave. So I saved the game. Where in the ?{]*!!!%! did it go? I did another naming the saved game 1game, and did a file search, and it was never found. Nothing in my PBEM or Saved folders on the desktop. Also the HotKeys don't list a 'load' and the games don't come up on the list at the beginning of the demo.

HELP, my panther may get toasted.

  10. I agree with most of the postings here. I played the demo and am impressed by the war action.

    Re: War Game FOW

Has anyone here got hooked on XCOM, it is not at 'war' game in the sense of reality. But, it did include the concept of unseen FOW. Areas not explored were unvisible, and it really added to the suspense and uncertainty that must be felt by anyone going into combat.

I does sound like a big CPU hog though in a real time game. The early Xcom's were turn based and could be classified as slow.

Looking forward to the game release.
