Anyone want to try a large map PBEM game?
Something like SS vs North Novas or first clash at cambes?
Id like to get a couple of PBEM games going.

Thought I might share a little tip on using AAA to help your armor out. I was playing the scenerio First Clash at Cambes and used my 20mm flak guns on the British armor. This caused the Shermans to button up reducing their ability to sight in on my PzIVs over 1000 meters away. My four PzIVs were able to knock out 7 of the brit tanks before any of them got a hit on me.

They are great for ambushes in heavy woods. I had one surpress two advancing platoons.
-
I read that the Sherman can climb very steep inclines. Has anyone tryed this tank on very steep slopes? Just curious if the game models this.
-
Wow, Just tryed out the new beta drivers for the Voodoo3 and they really make a difference! Make sure you get the latest drivers Olduvai. The smoke and explosions improved 100 percent.

First scenerio I played was called One cold day I think. I took German side and was given 210mm nebelwerfer rockets. Pretty amazing explosions and neat sound effects, but man do those things scatter.
Dont even think about using them anywhere near your own troops. Not a very accurate weapon compared to tube artillery.

I do not know if they are included, but has anyone experienced any nebelwerfer fire? I am interested to see their effect.

I have the Voodoo 3 2000 too but have not had any problems running CM with it in my Celeron 366. I do get blocky smoke but intend to fix that problem once I get a new driver downloaded and installed. Ive just been too busy playing the game to bother installing new drivers
Sounds like you have a directx issue which may be the cause of your problem.

I was playing VOT and had one of my Sherman 105s within 20 meters of the 75mm pillbox.
The Sherman gets a hit on the pillbox only to have the backblast come back and hit him damaging the main gun.
I should have known better, but really had not expected CM to take this into account.
The details in this game never cease to amaze me.

Do they have flares for the night battles?

Good god! My screen shakes bad enough during 105 bombardments. Anything more and Im going to have to buy a new monitor!
-
Im looking for a PBEM opponent. Anyone who thinks they can put up a good defense as the Germans in VOT let me know. Figured I would get one more demo game in before I get my hands on the full game since I just ordered it last week.

Ive had a Sherman take 4 hits already and survive. 2 Hits from a StugIII and 3 hits from Panzerschrecks. The first Panzerscherck hit penetrated the turrent. the 2nd went through the front hull killing one crewman. 3rd was the coupdegrace.
Just curious if anyone else had that kind of luck with a Sherman?

Anyone see this happen? I found you can run over infantry! My Panther was in close contact with U.S. grunts when he turns and runs over the remnants of a squad. Thought that was a pretty neat touch.

Remember the scene from "Saving Private Ryan"? The sniper in that Church tower didnt fare too well.
-
Anyone try this? Engage the US infantry at close range for a few turns and then make a quick withdrawl. The US AI will start dropping artillery ripping their own infantry to shreds. The trick is to not let your own troops get pinned down and provide good cover for their withdrawl. The artillery will stop any pursuit from the US side allowing the Germans a safe escape.

U.S. arty can be a pain in the A** if your playing the German side. There I am up on the hill with my brand new Panzer with Sherman shells harmless bouncing off the hull. I was having a field day blowing up Shermans thinking I had nothing to worry about. Next turn I get hit with an a 105 barrage that I couldnt belive. This went on for 3 turns first blowing the tracks off my poor Panzer, then damaging the gun. The crew ended up bailing in the middle of the last barrage.
Anyone have any tips on how to help that poor German 150? I have yet for him to make it more then a 2 turns before he's blasted to kingdomcome. That 150 seems to be a real artillery magnet as well.

If any of you have a slower PC I would reccomend buying a Intel Celeron P300a or P366 pga CPU. They are very overclockable. Im running a P366 at 458mhz with no ill effects. Just be sure to have good cooling. A stock heatsink and fan just will not do.

I noticed the Stugs main gun can move a little bit in the horizental axis for fine tuning its aim. Anyone know just how many degrees the main gun can adjust before the entire tank has to move to get on target?

Toilet Paper Bomber. Thought it fit since I work in a sewer plant. I love the smell of SH*T in the Morning!
