My father, a machinist, was considered essential service, but he did take shifts on the factory roof spotting for V1s in his native England.
Not a relation per se, but a close family friend whom I've always known as 'uncle', was one of the Poles who made it to England and flew spitfires for the RAF (post Battle of Britain). he currently resides in a veterans home near Toronto.

CMBO, CMBB and the CMAK Demo. The full version of CMAK will join them all shortly. I still stink at all of them, but love them dearly despite that.

Me, I mean.
I have no doubt when I start up CMBO or CMBB that I am playing a WW2 simulation that is as accurate as possible. I therefore can sadly lay claim to being just a horrible commander. My men would be well advised to shoot me prior to any opening barrage.
It seems that despite years of playing, I have learned very little. I still get decimated by the AI on a regular basis. I understand the concept of fire-and-manouver, I just can't seem to execute it properly.
I wonder if a big part of my problem is my personal bias towards armour. Tanks are my focus, and as a result, things routinely fall apart. I can't seem to stop looking at battles as tank vs tank tradeoffs.
I hate playing the 'sacrifice game' of sending a squad or a scout car ahead to draw fire. It seems 'gamey' to me, yet if I don't do this I end up with 5 burning tanks instead of one burning halftrack.

Wisbech Lad - Been to Wisbech many times. Dad grew up in Lynn and his brother lives in Wisbech. Used to own a company called Mechro, now Drake Towage. Actually I have a camo jacket with me here that was purchased in Andy Cochrane's shop.
Monty's Double - gaffertape is definitely the stuff. I've used it to repair clothing, hold on car fenders, as well as supporting lights from a grid.

I stayed away for a long time, only because it was so depressing reading about how terrific the Ostfront was looking. Meanwhile, the CMBO forum got really quiet, so I chose to fade away.
As an added bonus, it appears that I can access this site again from work (had trouble about a year ago).
Based on the nice screenshots I'm seeing, I may stay away from mods with this one. Sure, some of the new user mods are astonishingly good, but my CMBO is a crazy mishmash of conflicting mods, and I crave simplicity.

I'm back after a very long absence. I've replaced my old first generation Pentium (laugh away) with a capable unit, so CMBB has finally been ordered and is in the mail.
So nice to see that at the very moment I come back, there are spectacular screenshots of the next game on the horizon.

I have to second the recommendation for Tom's Battle of the Bulge mods - they are absolutely superb. I'm not sure if I'll ever go back to pure white snow again.

My old first generation Pentium 233 just isn't up to the task of CMBB, or much else frankly. It rocks for Minesweeper though...
However, as soon as I get a new PC, I'll be sending for CMBB.

I've seen a few beautiful Korean War era jeeps in Toronto with all the kit still in place. One even had the radio with a huge whip antenna.

If I can get CMBB to work on my brick of a PC then I shall celebrate with some Napolean brandy followed by several pints of Asahi - a truly marvelous japanese beer.
If I can't get it to work then I'll skip the brandy, down several shots of Jagermeister and proceed onto the Asahi prior to curling into a fetal ball on the floor.

Splendid news. Believe it or not, I still have the brown shipping wrapper that my CM shipped in.
Sounds like you guys have made some wise calls, which doesn't surprise me in the least. BTS should be studied as a business model - I don't know of anyone else that is as good at taking customer opinions to heart and keeping them well informed.

I've seen the Panther to M-10 conversion used in the bulge, but I've never heard of a KT conversion. I rather doubt that this picture is a German attempt at US camoflage - what would it pass for? A Pershing, maybe?
My two cents say that its GIs taking a captured KT for a spin, with hasty stars thrown on just in case.
If I'm wrong, I guess I'll get hosed down by tommy gun fire along with them!

Saw Episode 3 of BAnd of Brothers the other night and saw what looked like a 37mm AT gun firing some kind of hollow charge stuck in the end of the barrel.
