  1. I am trying to find out some history on the Bergen rucksacks used in WW2, by the SBS and the SAS I have searched every where but all I have is pictures. Can anybody help with info, I've looked for 7 hours today and previously through loads of books.

Although this is a forum for CM I noticed that alot of the posts are replied to by very well informed and intelligent people.

  2. F.u.p is a forming up point.

After contact with the enemy , the bosses appraise what they have to do to clear the enemy from their feature. They do some recky's and find a suitable location and leave a bunch of guys their to protect the F.u.p.

While fire support is still pouring in ( contact is still being made but no fire and movement ) guys all form up in an extended line with decent spacing drop packs and leave the f.u.p.

I reckon the German soldiers considered open ground, roads, clearings, rivers all obstacles. I don't understand why they would move all their blokes across a field. One well set gunner would cause alot of damage, the beaten zone for these guns ripp.

I find it hard to look at the maps because 50% of the map is an obstacle.

  3. Maybe I am going over the top....sorry if I am wasting your time .

But when you make contact with the enemy ( he fires at you or you fire at him ). The scouts or anybody targeted will yell to his seco or boss, 100 metres axis of advance 1 enemy. ( maybe that kind of thing is good for realtime where there is mayhem and you need information fast...).

Come to think of it pre-planned arty would be slick, that is reference points that are indicated on map.

Also is moving like patroling, because the guys that move look like cannon fodder when they move. Is there a more patrolling like manner...rifles ( except guns ) held softly in between waist and shoulder.

Also will there be wind, sometimes heavy guns in still wind after alot of rounds create clouds of fumes and dust.

I play the mac version, should I see fatal casualties,I was doing an attack and I couldn't get a visual count of the enemies casulties.

    cheers

    Mike
