  1. I am trying to find out some history on the Bergen rucksacks used in WW2, by the SBS and the SAS I have searched every where but all I have is pictures. Can anybody help with info, I've looked for 7 hours today and previously through loads of books. Although this is a forum for CM I noticed that alot of the posts are replied to by very well informed and intelligent people.
  2. Sounds like these Generals had death wishes, that last quote sounds like he's moving along a road asking to be brassed up.
  3. Tom Servo and G Ned Anderson I've never had the chance to meet any overseas couterparts and when I did have the chance the Timor thing happened. Send me an e-mail some time wouldn't mind chating about U.S. minor infantry tactics.
  4. Yeh totally agree. Anything that affects momentum of a patrol or places risk is an obstacle.Basiclly their is no cover or concealment in open ground.
  5. F.u.p is a forming up point. After contact with the enemy , the bosses appraise what they have to do to clear the enemy from their feature. They do some recky's and find a suitable location and leave a bunch of guys their to protect the F.u.p. While fire support is still pouring in ( contact is still being made but no fire and movement ) guys all form up in an extended line with decent spacing drop packs and leave the f.u.p. I reckon the German soldiers considered open ground, roads, clearings, rivers all obstacles. I don't understand why they would move all their blokes across a field. One well set gunner would cause alot of damage, the beaten zone for these guns ripp. I find it hard to look at the maps because 50% of the map is an obstacle.
  6. Is there any mention of canister rounds ( tank ) and interlocking arcs in the texts that you are reading. Also what about there individual fire and movement from contact and movement from their f.u.p's.
  7. I'll play you....if your up for it. I haven't played PBEM yet .....:
  8. I have this great resource at my Nana's house ( she is Ukranian/German ). Does any body remember the Readers Digest WW2 card series on everything ! Tactics, Wepons, people, battles. ? I have over 3000 cards.....in detail. I guess my question is as well does any body have these ?
  9. Cheers, I played for along time last night and its a game where you submerse your self in the terain and you've really gotta use your head. cheers all "The easiest way to a mans heart is with a 50 cal "
  10. Thanxs for your time, pretty much answered my questions. This game is very good.....the detail in the amour and the soldiers is professional. The views are great as well, especially from the soldiers view point, you can really pick out dead ground. "Hug their belts".....
  11. Maybe I am going over the top....sorry if I am wasting your time . But when you make contact with the enemy ( he fires at you or you fire at him ). The scouts or anybody targeted will yell to his seco or boss, 100 metres axis of advance 1 enemy. ( maybe that kind of thing is good for realtime where there is mayhem and you need information fast...). Come to think of it pre-planned arty would be slick, that is reference points that are indicated on map. Also is moving like patroling, because the guys that move look like cannon fodder when they move. Is there a more patrolling like manner...rifles ( except guns ) held softly in between waist and shoulder. Also will there be wind, sometimes heavy guns in still wind after alot of rounds create clouds of fumes and dust. I play the mac version, should I see fatal casualties,I was doing an attack and I couldn't get a visual count of the enemies casulties. cheers Mike sorry if my questions seem ridiculous....but this game is very schmick and switched on
  12. Is there going to be target indications in the game. I am just starting to play the demo and the game looks like it has a lot of potential. Also it freaks me out when the guys don't shoot from the prone position.
  13. Just seconding what Sgt.Morgue explained, I've fired the M60, Minimi and the Mag 58. And if these guns are looked after they'll keep up a normal rate of fire. Somebody mentioned around 25 seconds for a barrel change, realisticly 10-12 seconds anything more and you loose momentum. And Sgts get upset when you loose momentum. cheers
