  1. Going on why we are losing Iraq is getting way too political and off topic. I blame it on Rumsfield, end of story.

Troopers in the Stryker units I've talked to like the vehicles and the concept very much as it enhances their ability in regards to speed and calling in fireworks quickly.

That they are only fighting insurgents/terrorists gives them a firepower edge from the get go is obvious. If they had to go toe to toe against an armored or mechanized force they might not do so well out in the open desert but on foot in an urban area they'd probably outfight their foe. My guess that is.

    all best

  2. Hi could someone check if an order was received for Dropteam by me? I believe I placed an order sometime in June or July and paid for it via my credit card.

Moved to Kuwait in May and haven't been able to check my records online as the bank security device to log online has still to reach me and the paper records are still sent ot my old address.

    The order number is:143694

    Was there a problem?

If there was please email me at plucero.mac.com or patricklucero1148@yahoo.com

    thanks

  3. Aren't Bradley's being outfitted for slats as well? The ones I've seen going up to Iraq look like they have brackets for holding the slats in place all around the vehicle. The slats weren't attached as they were being transported on trucks so I'm assuming the width of having them on would prevent them from travelling?

IED's seem to be more effective against Stryker's. The destroyed hulks of Strykers I've seen all had major blast damage. One vehicle had its floor blasted upwards and ruptured from a blast directly beneath the troop compartment. The rest seemed to be damaged from concussion and fire. How that came about I wouldn't know, I'm just going by what I could observe and surmise.

  4. Bradleys are being outfitted with slat cages like the strykers so for close in ambushes they would be well protected against rpgs and 1st & 2nd (?) gen ATGM's. Against MBT's they've done quite well fighting against the Iraqi's with their bushmasters and tows as its all about getting the 1st shot in on target.

IMHO CMSF will come down to what we just saw happen in Lebanon to the Israeli armor. Syrian armored forces won't have a chance in a stand up fight and will have to resort to RPG/ATGM ambushes. With the US army's ability to locate enemy armor well beyond the range of the Syrian tanks a smart player would use tanks as bait for the AT missile troops.

The point is there is only so much defensive armor you can put on a IFV, MBT or a soldier before it becomes impractical. Having a comination of slat and trophy defences would certainly increase the odds for armor but how effective it will be in the real world means using good overwatch tactics to ensure surviability. That means having JSTAR's, helicopters or micro UAV's overhead with the capability to attack in an instant of a missile launch. Certainly the way things are going tech wise its almost a certainty we'll be seeing that soon.

  5. I was playing a snowing winter QB and I had sight of a Panther for a few secs shot at it then lost the LOS to it. However I targeted that spot for the next minute with my T34l85 while I ran another T34 to the rear of where the Panther was last sighted. After another 2 minutes my tank came up to an abandoned Panther. My opponent confirmed being hit and immobilized on the first hit but his crew panicked and abandoned their vehicle after the barrage of HE I sent.

  6. Hi as far as G4 powerbooks are concerned they can still boot into 9.2.2 for the 1ghz titaniums. However whenever i try to load the ati drivers for 9.2.2 my powerbook crashes. Unfortunately I don'thave the original install disks for OS9 with me here( Kuwait)so I can't re-install my OS and start over again.

Will give it atry again after work and hopefully I'll have it running without any issues.

  7. Hi .

Well I booted into os9.2.2 and tried to install the hotfix. However on installing the driver the installer quit with an error 1 message and then the install disappeared. On trying to restart I then got a finder crash and had to force quit. That happened continuously even after I had gone into the extension folder and clicked the 9.2.2 extensions only box. Restarted and crashed again. Have had no luck.

  8. Hi looking at the troubleshooting section I found the link to my answer (below) but on clicking the url ATI has redirected the link. Does that mean the latest video driver for OS10.4 is the correct fix? I'm a bit confused there. Otherwise does anyone have the aCTUAL HOTFIX? you can send it to me at

    i'M RUNNING A G4 Titanium 1000ghz, 1gb ram and the ATI Mobility 9000 Radeon.

    Thanks

    Patrick

Problem: I have a Mac with a Radeon video card installed (8500, Mobility 9000, 9000 Pro) and I am getting what looks like psychedelic graphics displayed when playing the game.

Cause/Solution: ATI has just released a Hotfix software update that resolves this issue. The file can be found here: http://www.ati.com/support/infobase/4380.html

  9. Nice photo! Can't we all just get along?

Naw it's more fun reading about who and what is an asshat or urinehead.

Seriously though CMSF has major differences to Tow.

    1. you can enter buildings

    2. you have a map editor?

    3. on board mortars

to name a few. Hope I got that right?

  10. This version of cider seems very promising for Mac users buying into the new MacIntel systems.

If it really works as well as it claims to then I would hope to see all of BFC's Windows games wrapped in cider.
