  1. Thanks for taking the time to reply Steve. On Mouse Help, it depends on how it's implemented. If you put in an idle time of a half-second or so, the cursor shouldn't take much of a hit. The changes to the camera control sound good, as well. Not my preference, but better that what's in place now. A user controlled camera position sounds like what I was looking for. I tend to get disoriented pretty badly. I notice that you didn't mention what you though of being able to 'drag' a unit to give it the default order. By 'tracers' I just meant an option to be able to see all the shots taken during the last turn, similar to the 'show paths' command. It would show me all the shots taken during that turn. They could take place simultaneously (or nearly so). Even a static picture would be fine, although probably harder to see (and program). A naive approach would be to just playback the turn, without unit movement or any sound, but with the shots sequences taking place. That should cut the time down to a couple of seconds instead of a full minute. Right now, I need to play the turn back several times. Once, just to see where I need to look at for the other views. If I could turn on 'tracers', I would be able to clearly see what areas I needed to focus on for the replays, instead of having to play through an extra time, just to see what I should be watching. It would also help me by not requiring me to focus with quite as much attention during the playback. I tend to be a more 'casual' player instead of a 'grognard'. Ralph
  2. I've tried to get into this game, but I've had some difficulties with the interface. Admittedly, some of them may be things that I missed, and some might not be as important once I've played a lot, but I'd like to give some impressions... Have you considered an interface like Myth 2? It's 3D, similar to Combat Mission, but a lot easier to maneuver in with the mouse, IMHO. The current Mouse/Keyboard combination seems clumsy. Why can't I Drag-Select? I thought that was standard by now. Even if it's only for one unit, I still often find it simpler to select one unit by dragging than by clicking, especially at high altitudes. Why aren't fly-over hints enabled? I'd like to be able to see what's under my cursor without having to click on it. I'd like to be able to drag a unit to give it a standard order, similar to what I can do in the close combat series. I'd like a 'hot-key' to orient me facing North at a standard resolution, like PG3 has. I'd like an option for 'persistent tracers' I don't find it to be a lot of fun to replay the playback over several times looking for that elusive muzzle flash. Being able to toggle them would save me that trouble. If all scenarios are similar in size to the current scenarios, then things like multi-select aren't required, but if any are bigger, then I think I'd be fighting the interface way too much. Thanks for listening, Ralph
  3. I have a Diamond Stealth s540(?) with the latest drivers loaded. Windows 98, AMD 350, 64 Meg. The video board is an S3 Savage4 based card with 32 Meg of memory. The cursor doesn't work correctly, wiping out portions of video memory. I can probably turn off portions of the hardware acceleration to fix this, but you may want to consider allowing me to turn off hardware cursor, or whatever in the setup screen, or though an .ini file or registry setting, instead of globally. Thanks, Ralph
