  1. Thank you for the reply. I'm running a Gateway. So the only potential workaround is a driver unistall/reinstall? I'll try that. The game is useless without some sort of solution. Yours, Dreghorn2
  2. I'm having a problem with my replay feature. When i try to replay a movie the timer changes from 05s, 33s, 45s, etc.. to 00-1230 or a similar number(always 00- followed by a 4 digit number). When i try to fast forward through the turn my units continue on their paths exiting right off of the map. I cannot reach the 60s mark to end the replay it just continues scrolling along with the timer showing 00-4 digit number and counting off in 1 (i presume second) increments endlessly. Basically this has made the game unplayable. I'm running XP on a 2.53G Pentium 4 with a GeForce Ti 4600g video card with the stock drivers. Any suggestions? Very frustrating. Yours, Dreghorn2
  3. Gentlemen, Order number 80369 has arrived in the California desert.. we are happy. I'd like to d/l a copy of the new 'Soviet propoganda poster' splash screen that i saw in a thread recently. Despite extensive use of the search function i can't find the thread, could someone please provide the URL? Thanks in advance. Yours, Dreghorn2
  4. Having just purchased a high end PC, in conjunction with a new broadband internet connection, i have finally been able to 'mod-up' CM. Many, many thanks to Madmatt for his excellent Mod Guide article at CMHQ. Matt this article saved me a great deal of time and was most informative. Thanks for taking the time to write it. I would highly recommend this as the first place to go for those thinking of taking the CM Mod plunge. Yours, Dreghorn2
  5. Hello Gentlemen, High desert here, Ridgecrest, a little farther out than you Lancaster-Bakersfield guys. Love Combat Mission and have been around, as a lurker mostly, from the beginning. Alpha AAR got me started. Yours, Dreghorn2
  6. Thanks for the reply Matt, hope it makes it,would be a nice little feature. Yours, ------------------ 'A mans greatest pleasure is to crush his enemies, sweep them before him, to take from them that which they possess, to see their women and children in tears'
  7. Gentlemen, I generally prefer to play with labels on during most battles, particularly the larger ones. Its easier to determine whats happening with my troops as i can tell what units are taking fire etc.., by the fact that they are becoming shaken or broken. A quick scan during playback supplies me with a lot of information, very useful particularly during TCP/IP when time is at a premium. However, once the bodies start piling up, the 'eliminated' label starts becoming a real distraction, obscuring action. It would be nice to allow label editing so that we could have this feature in use, yet decide which information we'd like presented, i.e. everything but 'eliminated'. I'm not sure if this would be a difficult option to add, or even if anyone else would like to see it. Any thoughts? Yours, ------------------ 'A mans greatest pleasure is to crush his enemies, sweep them before him, to take from them that which they possess, to see their women and children in tears'
  8. More good info, thanks John. Rate of fire identical, destructive power increased, interesting. I'll really have to try them, i've had great success with their cheaper counterparts. ------------------ 'A mans greatest pleasure is to crush his enemies, sweep them before him, to take from them that which they possess, to see their women and children in tears'
  9. Ahh, many thanks Mr.Sahdorf. I've found the British/Canadian 4.2" mortar a very handy weapon if the rate of fire of the American counterpart is that much higher than i can fully understand the price hike. Yours, ------------------ 'A mans greatest pleasure is to crush his enemies, sweep them before him, to take from them that which they possess, to see their women and children in tears'
  10. Why does a Canadian 4.2" mortar cost half as much as its American counterpart, they have identical loadouts. ------------------ 'A mans greatest pleasure is to crush his enemies, sweep them before him, to take from them that which they possess, to see their women and children in tears'
  11. So as the Allies for example, you think that Axis using 'attack' points -10% is fair. Interesting.. i would be extremely concerned as the Allies with the Axis getting anything over 'probe' points. What about as the Allies in attack, same thing -10%? Yours
  12. Gentlemen, Yes i've read Fionns 'rules of engagement' and they sound like decent parameters. I'm getting a little confused, i went to the Tournament chat room to elicit opinions, and i ended up hearing that generally either side on the attack with 'Attack' points (if you know what i mean), will have too great an advantage because it is too easy to simply concentrate on one side of the map and overwhelm it. However, they also mentioned that they felt that any attack with 'probe' points was not enough, for either side.. i'm still dubious that it isnt enough for the Axis.. so i'm still not sure what gamers are finding as the best settings for the fairest games. Yours, ------------------ 'A mans greatest pleasure is to crush his enemies, sweep them before him, to take from them that which they possess, to see their women and children in tears'
  13. Gentlemen, I would like to know from those of you that have played extensively against human opponents what the best settings are for competitive game play. Admittedly the majority of my experience has been versus the AI, but my personal feeling is that if the point values are close in a battle the Axis side has a large advantage in that they get more 'bang for the buck' in purchasing power. The AI, while fun, simply does not provide the competition that a good human player can, so any evaluations based gleaned form playing solo are somewhat irrevelant. I'm getting long-winded. My question is, when playing against humans what is the fairest setting? When attacking as the Allies should the game settings be 'attack', 'probe' etc.. When defending as the Allies what should the settings be? In a game i recently set up i'm defending as the Allies, 1500 points 'probe'. When i checked later to see what points the Axis player receives in this situation i saw it to be 2250. Even though a probe i feel i'm going to be hard pressed against any Axis player with that type of point advantage, and i would certainly be concerned if i had to attack the Axis with an advantage of only that amount. How are the rest of you finding it? When playing against a capable opponent what are the fairest settings, and how have the results gone? Any advantage showing up for either side? Yours, ------------------ 'A mans greatest pleasure is to crush his enemies, sweep them before him, to take from them that which they possess, to see their women and children in tears'

  15. The search function didn't yield any information on the topics listed in the subject header, so i'll ask whether these features will be considered as possible additions to a CM2 release. The 'rasputitsa' season determined the characteristics of battle and movement, on the Eastern front, to an extent that rivaled that of winter. Fighting was difficult, but not impossible during these periods and it would be interesting to try and recreate those conditions in CM. Will a 'mud terrain' feature be added, or will 'damp terrain' (or perhaps a super 'damp terrain') be used to recreate the problems associated with movement in the veritable quagmire that was often found during the spring and fall in Russia? Cavalry and panje wagons being used in these conditions might be a lot of fun, i'd like to see them included in CM2. Absolutely love CM, its been many years since i've waited so anxiously for e-mail moves/turns from opponents for any type of game. ------------------ 'A mans greatest pleasure is to crush his enemies, sweep them before him, to take from them that which they possess, to see their women and children in tears'
